Question Is this too good to be true?

I want to get my son a nice game machine nothing fancy.. but able to play all in 1080p

I came across an ad for a gaming system for $700..

NVIDIA ge-force1080ti
Intel Core i7 9900k
32gb ram
2tb hard drive
2tb SSD

The ad is little vague, but overall, this could be very good system..
I think CPU cost around $300-400 Videocard $200-300 Memory $100 2tb SSD $200 Case/Powersupply $150-250..
It also has watercooling for CPU.

Even if I add the lowest price for each item.. still a good deal..

I'm just afraid that I'll get robbed during the transaction..
Is it worth taking a risk?

Just meet the seller in front of your local police station.

In my region, they have parking spots at police stations with cameras specifically for people meeting to buy/sell things.

If they refuse to meet in a safe location, you likely know it's not legit. No potential deal is worth meeting someone in some dark alley.

Assuming every possible corner was cut $700 is a great price but not an unbelievably great price.
Also as above just meet the seller somewhere safe.

Thanks for the plug, and actually, a reminder, I have to mark that white Rexgears II case gaming PC as "pending locally", I've got a friend coming over tomorrow to check it out and buy it.

Other than that one, I don't have anything in the $700+ range to sell right now. Sorry!

(I do have an HP mini-tower, with an i5-6500, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4, and I currently have an MSI Ventus GTX 1650 4GB D5 OC card in there, that's around a $550 + ship system, with SATA SSD and SATA 1TB HDD. PM me if interested. I do have a pending inquiry about the video card in it, though, so that might disappear, if they get back to me. I also have a GTX 1650 D6 EVGA SC Ultra card, but that takes a 6-pin PCI-E power cable, so I would either have to adapt one of the SATA leads (I think that there's only two, and both the SSD and HDD are using them,), or install another PSU. I might just do another "full conversion mod" with it, into an RGB fan case, with an aftermarket PSU. That would be around $750+ship when done. I think that the pic of my prior one using same model system components is still in my FS thread.)

There's no way I can match that deal, though. Seems a little bit suspiciously-low. (Not that I haven't done similarly "suspiciously low" deals in the past too, when things like my rent needed to get paid. But at least here, people know me.)

I could see it if the person was strapped for cash and trying to clear out inventory, but the problem I'd have is that there's no way I'd want to just hand over cash at a police station parking lot without testing the system first, since you may never hear from the guy again .

Did I miss it or are all these parts supposed to be new? Buying used parts, or even new but through a 3rd party with no warranty is value detracted to me.

On the post it said that the system was only 5 months old.. and He upgraded..
He removed the post, which means he either sold it or changed his mind..

Okay, but seller puffing about how great/new/whatever is common, and not something I'd trust without proof like a purchase receipt for the video card. Even then, there's no transferable warranty on anything right?

It's pretty easy to blow dust out of a system and make it look nearly new, as long as the user wasn't a heavy smoker. Granted some things like the HDD may have a running hours count you can check, but not without power in a police station parking lot.
