I have out look express 6 installed in xp. I downloaded a message which I presume went straight to my deleted folder. I am using create rule from message to get rid of spam.
When I next went to look in the delted folder I couldnt open it, it just hangs there thinking with the little hour glass.

I am using and old Pentium 3 500cpu. The processor is redlining.

This is the fix that I was given!
I was told the fix to this was to delete the delteted folder and out look would automatically create a new. How true is this?
Also I went in to Application/ data/ unique long number/ opened it and there is nothing in there.
Yes I have show hidden files enabled?
I am at a loss? can anyone advise?

My Outlook Express files are located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Account Name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{69A164D5-B4C9-4A3C-9A2F-D1ABE2327BC8}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Is this where you looked?

In any case, yes, you can delete the "Deleted Items.dbx" file and when OE is launched the next time, that file will be regenerated. Obviously, anything in Deleted Items will be lost.

Do you have the Preview Pane enabled? If yes, it is possible that OE is hanging when attempting to preview and render the contents of that offending message. Try disabling it and delete that e-mail.

You also need to uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files" as well. It will blab about it not being safe and whatnot...just answer yes.
