Is this true?

Someone told me that something was enacted in the past few years which makes the legal drinking age 21 for Americans in British Columbia. So someone like my friend who just turned 19 couldn't go to Vancouver and drink in bars. Is this true?

And while I'm at it, can you drink in public or be drunk in public in Europe?

in fance and germany they have to be 16!!! hehe so if iwas a 16 yr old englishman and went to france i could legally drink

I didn't mean to ask what the age was in Europe, I meant to ask if it is okay to drink in public or be drunk in public at any age. It is illegal here in America.

There is no legal age in Italy.
I was staying their with some friends, and the daughter, who was 12 IIRC, had people in her school year who used to drink alco-pops (Smirnoff Ice/Bacardi etc, if you get them there).
Not sure about harder stuff, but I expect the age for that is low too.
And I think Spain is 14 for beers, but higher for liquor and stuff.

You're ok in canada, I doubt such laws exist.

As for europe, the part that I am from doesn't even pretend to have any laws, rules or customs in regards todrinking. Anyone can do anything anywhere anytime.

Legal drinking age in Ontario is 19.
Legal drinking age in Quebec is 18.

Hence why ski-trips to Quebec are so popular for high-schools.

In denmark there's no restriction to drinking. But if you want to buy alkohol you have to be atleast 15, though i'm convinced it can still be done. But i don't know any 12yo's that drink. I myself started when i was 15.

And there's no law against being drunk in public. The can only arrest people (read: the police) if they are harrasing people. 14yo's can be drunk on the street aswell, but never are.

The problem is that it's easy to acquire something to drink if you need it. Which is fine with me, but the mainstream pop-media has alot of focus on it. And that's the bad thing, because the more they ban and stuff, the more people start drinking.
