yeh, no knocking here either. they just open the door and put the package inside, but to be fair, it's fine with me.

I one time had my UPS guy come to the door, and when I opened it he just said "hi" and tossed it on the porch. I looked at him like "wtf?" and he picked it up and handed it to me. He was probably thinking "fuck, that was a dick move" in his truck.

Everyone is looking at this the wrong way. UPS got a new contract recently. Teamsters management (crooks) and UPS management (crooks too) decided they needed to cut costs so Mr. Hoffa jr can feed his kids. New drivers are trained to haul @ss from the truck to the door and back. They have to do it in 15 seconds unless it requires a signture. You have 15 seconds to answer the door for a signature, or you wait til the next day. This saved time allows them to hire less drivers and deliver more packages! And they are in shape so they save even more money health insurance! Saving tons of money just like Geico! So you see, it's not that they don't care. UPS just found a way to save money.

Funny part is a lot of packages ship with signature required, so by leaving it without one they're basically accepting responsibility should anything happen to it. It disappears, you call them up and raise hell, they pay the shipper for a replacement based on the stated value of the package. If it happens enough on a route a driver will get fired.

If I am working in my home office, I don't plan on either refreshing the tracking info every minute or looking outside for a package on my front lawn.

FedEx FTW.

I'm doing some part-time fedex package handling for some extra cash. If throwing your package onto the lawn pisses you off, then you might go into a bloodlust, berserk rampage if I tell you what the package handlers do to packages...

the thing that bothers me is that back about 7-9 years ago when i was building computers at home i got to know my UPS driver. Talked to him quite a bit, always offered him a soda when he came, I was hoping to do the same now that i have my own place, oh well

Im shocked there isnt more theft and fraud with this practice.

They have left $2000 newegg packages on my doorstep before for 8+ hours that were signature required.

Funny, I just experienced the UPS ninja today. In the time it took me to walk from my couch to the door (~12 feet) to answer the knock he was already driving away. I literally stood in the door for a second wondering how the hell he had gotten back into his truck so fast.

I wish to attend UPS delivery training to learn their secrets

Or maybe its a trick? They place the package on the ground and jog 10 feet away. Then, using the ubiquitous 10 foot poll, they lightly knock on the door or ring the doorbell. Makes for a faster getaway

a couple weeks ago, I was expecting a package from UPS... I'd been monitoring the tracking all week, and at the last minute, it got hit with a "package refused by receiver, sent back to original destination" message! wtf is that crap? I wasn't home, no one was at my apartment, and none of my neighbors weren't home.

clearly, there was no one around to refuse the package.

Actually, we had a huge theft ring operating locally that "specialized" in stealing UPS pkgs. left on people's doorstep / porch. They really ramped it up during the Christmas season too, a lot of unhappy peeps as a result.

The dash and run will bite them bad, though. Can't wait for the first time something gets stolen and they produce that bogus electronic customer signature as their defense ... I haven't signed for a UPS package in years. Not only that but I have often noted in my Trackings that whenever they leave a package they somehow always have a customer sig anyways. Forgery, at best ...

yeah this is why my package was lost. It's some fat guy running away with a donut usually.

Like I said, they will lose packages this way but it's cheaper for them to save money/time/trips than to take a loss on some packages.

WHOA wait a minute you need to have loss insurance. If not, they will just give you back the money for the signature option. And you will have to recover your loses.

wow, I suppose that would make sense, just follow the driver and steal the packages. Ridiculous.

They never forge my signature. They put 'delivered on doorstep' again, I don't even hear knocking, I just hear a 'thud' and when I open it there's a package!

All this time I thought the package flew over from another state or was delivered by a stork!

I'm waiting for the day when all the houses will be connected with tubes and packages will just be suctioned to your house instantly (or within a few hours)

well, if they did that will envelopes, that would take away 90% of USPS work so they can focus on SUPER fast parcel shipping.

Heck, at least they leave the package!
At my house, they ALWAYS leave the little sticky note I have to sign to have it re-delivered the next day. (While I am at work & noone's home.)
Always have to wait an extra day for my stuff.

If I am expecting something I can surprise them. I can hear the truck coming down the street, as can my dog, so, I know when they are coming by the brake squeel and engine cutoff in front of the house (followed by crazy dog barking). By the time they have the box out of the truck I can be downstairs opening the door.

Sometimes they stop at neighbors houses and my dog still barks. :disgust:

Also, sometimes my wife ordered something and I didn't know, so we'll get the knock-and-run because I assume they're at the neighbors house.

Yep those useless pieces of shit do that with me as well. On top of that, they refuse to leave my packages outside my door (which is reasonable since we live in an apartment) but that SOB has the UPS notice already written out before he even gets to my door. He puts the notice on the door, knocks, and then hauls ass to his truck.

Thats not true!!
If a signature is required they will wait!!
They get in big trouble for even thinking about leaving a package without a sigbature that is required!!!

How many deliveries could they make in a day by getting a few jets, some experienced bomber pilots, and just fly over the city and drop the packages with little parachutes on them?
