Snohomish county is all kind of messed up this morning. i didnt want to take the chance in my Honda, this is the text

I have only had 1 sick day in the last 2 months... I definitely value my job

Pardon the brevity but i need to know kind of quick if this is worth reporting or likely to do more harm than good

I just dont like having my commitment questioned like this, feel it was an inappropriate way to respond

Its not the snow on the car, its the ice on the roads that gives my fwd car trouble

Snohomish county WA? If so google traffic shows lots of green and orange = get your lazy ass to work. I've driven to work when the entire area was red and black on google maps from the weather

Was that your boss? If so, that's epic BS. I'd raise shit over it, though to be fair it would start and most likely end with my boss. If thats a co-worker buddy, fuck him. move on.

You should definitely report this to HR. Make sure you let the person who sent you the text know that you're going to HR as well, so they understand the gravity of the situation.

fwiw, FWD is not an excuse. that represents like 90% of cars on the road.

And also fwiw, that's not a lot of snow and/or ice. You should definitely have gone to work. The BS part is that you were (i'm assuming) legitimately not sure of your safety and your (presumed) boss basically said "man up, princess. get your ass in here." Fuck That.

That's just a dusting of snow. If the side and main streets are clear then you should be fine to go to work.
I don't see a big threat from your boss in that text, but perhaps you may be second on the promotions list or first let go.

I wouldn't drive to work in that either. But my company doesn't expect you to come in if you don't feel like it's safe to drive and they encourage you to stay home if that is how you feel. That's how good companies work. OP clearly works for a shitty company.

So... why did you say "we're pretty snowed in here" and not "I'm concerned about the ice on the roads"?
To non-retards it's pretty obvious when you see a picture of roads that aren't plowed yet that your concerned about driving on said roads.

Yeah, send it to HR. The HR people who got up, dusted off their car and drove into work will get a good laugh out of it.
Why, this is such an affront, I think he ought to copy the CEO as well, so the CEO knows what kind of operation they're running!

Heh, the guy who says "I wouldn't drive in with that amount of snow" is referring other people as non-retards.

Yes, that amount of snow on the road is not something I'd drive in. Especially considering I have a sports car that is rear wheel drive and live on a hill. I'm not as concerned with myself driving on the roads, it's all the other idiots on the roads that are more worrysome.

I did go to work. I'm here now, atleast 1/3 the department didn't show.

And to the guy LOL'ing from Texas, well yeah, you live in TEXAS so you probably don't have to deal with icy weather.

Fuck that...stay home, spend your day sending that terrible insult to EVERYONE...even the newspaper. (be sure to tell them who you work for) No human should be expected to brave such horrifying conditions!

I'm across the sound in Kitsap. We got 3-4" of snow here...I'm not leaving the house until it ALL melts.

(not because I don't know how to drive in it...I grew up in snow country and this is just a bit more than a dusting...but I'm surrounded by people who apparently have never seen snow...and damned sure don't know how to drive in it.)

If you're not concerned with yourself, but rather everyone else, why do you bother to mention where you live or what you drive?
It's probably not ultimately as relevant to you, because I expect you likely have a job where you can work just as effectively from home. But if a co-worker told me they weren't driving in because of this amount of snow, I'd laugh at them and make fun of them.

It's because of both, as I mentioned in the post you quoted. And no I can't work from home, I have to use PTO or make up the time if I can't go into work. But with 27 days of PTO a year I usually have enough to cover it, although I'm still negative now from vacation this past year.

You're such a badass though.

I'm glad you're man enough to admit it!
