I'll leave this here. Why don't you start with the etymology of the word and go from there. Illegality isn't necessary for a coup.

A coup or coup d'état (/ˌkuː deɪˈtɑː/ listen (help·info); French: [ku deta], literally "blow of state"; plural: coups d'état, pronounced like the singular form; also known simply as an overthrow, takeover, or putsch) is the removal of an existing government from power, usually through violent means and by usurpers originating from within a country’s institutions. Typically, it is an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power by a political faction, the military, or a dictator.[1] Many scholars consider a coup d'état successful when the usurpers seize and hold power for at least seven days.[1] A coup attempt may refer to a coup in the works or an unsuccessful coup.
You might as well lecture on advanced calculus to the remedial math class at the 'special school'. Actually those students might learn more than n0mind1 will.

For sure! I knew he was going down that road. He intentionally tries to split hairs and derail conversations. Unfortunately for him he isn't very skillful at it and inevitably ends up looking like a fool.

Here Child, let me help spoon feed you....

None of what is occurring matches ANYTHING remotely close to what a coup is.

It isn't sudden.
It isn't violent.
And it isn't an illegal seizure of power.

Try again fearmongering children.
You call me a child, then try to literally make your argument using pedantics.

That is but one definition, and not a paticurlay good one for how the word is used in both common and scientific parlance.

Here is a functional definition from Wikipedia:

Clayton Thyne and Jonathan Powell's dataset of coups defines attempted coups as "illegal and overt attempts by the military or other elites within the state apparatus to unseat the sitting executive." They arrive at this definition by combining common definitions in the existing literature, and removing specificities and ambiguities that exist in many definitions.

It is relatively sudden. That is to say it is all happening in a set time period, and not over years.
It is not yet violent, we might yet get there. But it does not matter violence is common in coups, but not required.
It is illegal. Testifying to something you know to be untrue in court is illegal.

Most important case in history according to Trump. Only he can save us all from going to hell. I'm not sure how we ever managed.

He's a Buffon, making the dumbest coup attempt possible. They aren't mutually exclusive.
He's a buffoon savant. Buffoon characteristics but has a very special talent. Pathologically lying to bring out the worst in people.

Uhmm, having the judiciary rule in favor of those attempting a coup is a pretty common feature of them when those coups involve people already in power trying to subvert the electoral process. Look at Maduro’s use of the Venezuelan Supreme Court as an example.

Always amazing how you try to insult other people for being stupid while saying things like this.

Someone is on the low end of the Dunning-Kruger scale. And a very dedicated troll.

lol the amount of children in here that call SCOTUS not hearing a laughable case means it's an attempted coup.

People really have gone down the insane rabbit-hole.

No.

Only the most epic of morons would answer yes.

Again, is he a dumb doofus buffoon - or an evil genius that can take over the country? Quit saying it's both you morons.

How about: He's a genius at being evil and a dumb doofus buffoon at being POTUS.

I think that captures it in a nutshell.

Had it succeeded, it would have been a coup. That it failed is what makes it attempted. This shouldn't be that hard to understand.

But otherwise, yes, for a judiciary to overlook the law of the land, purely for partisan reasons, in order to overturn an election is obviously a coup. And yes, attempting just that in America does make Trump an evil genius and a fucking idiot at the same time. The former for trying, and the latter for trying in fucking America.

So I'm confused, has Ken Paxton now earned his pardon? Has Trump issued the pardon yet?

Trump's not a corporation. Wait until Exxon runs for President and see what the court rules.
Actually, Trump is a corporation, the Trump Org. And so is the federal govt, for that matter.

But the real reason this failed was because the legal basis was laughable. In fact, so laughable that it was actually quite shocking to see so-called States Rights Federalists argue for the end of State Sovereignty. I mean, seriously. And all so they could appoint Trump as king. What literally happened here is that tens of millions of so-called 'strict constitutionalist' conservatives just demonstrated to the rest of America how much they hate the Constitution. All because they lost an election.

SAD!

It would have been a bloodless coup. Not unheard of in history. But one of our resident ignoramuses has little knowledge of history so therefore it can't be that.
