Is Vertex 3 120GB worth it compared to Intel 320 160GB

The 2 drives in topic have the same price and I soon need to upgrade from my Vertex 1 60GB. I will within a month or 2 get a Lenovo W520 which has SATA3.0 but is there any point in getting the Vertex 3 when its only a 120GB the speed difference even at SATA3.0 seems pretty small?

And do you think I will feel any difference in speed compared to my old drive?

I just got a C300.. for $199... that seems good for now. I will replace it when I have a faster SATA connection.

Where did you see that? Sata 3.0 (aka 6Gb/s) shows a pretty big difference on the Vertex 3 120 review that anand put out a couple weeks ago. And to further drive the performance difference across, the Intel 320 drive in that chart is the 300GB, which has higher performance than the 160GB.

Vertex 3's new Sandforce controller will run circles around that Indilinx controlled Vertex 1. Sandforce makes for a much snappier drive all around.

Latency, IOPS, and small file performance of even last gen Sandforce are all far superior to the Indilinx stuff.
