I just installed Linux Mint 17.3 along with win 7. For my printer on my win 7 machine, it was able to find my windows network and see and install the driver, so yes Linux has come a long way.Except for certain corporate niche markets like Excel heavy finance, the days of Microsoft OS dominance on the desktop may finally be coming to an end. I have not installed a desktop Linux since the 1990s, but I am sure it's come a long way from having to configure printer drivers on the command line. With Android phones, the way you can switch devices without having to copy over files and profiles is nothing short of revolutionary. We have finally reached device independence in our lifetimes.
