This is why I always turn off remote admin access and just only admin through the network. I have no real use to do remote admin on my home network when I'm not home.

Sumbitch...Wave was out again today to replace my router. They were here yesterday and replaced one that kept dropping the internet completely...wired and wireless...replaced it with an older E2000...that one worked only intermittently...so, I'm back to an EA2700 for now.

I need a GOOD, inexpensive wireless router that will send a solid, strong signal 30-35 feet. These Linksys routers have trouble getting signal more than about 15-20 feet.

I think this feature was enabled by default on my Linksys E4200 V1.

I have an E900 but the Remote Management was already off (and Filter Anonymous Internet Requests checked too). Never had a problem with the router but I updated the firmware anyway. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got an E900 for $25 -- just wish I could confirm that the wireless radio is actually off when "disabled". Love this f**ker. First thing I did was upgrade the firmware and turn every remote and wireless related thing off, so I think I'm good.

I have nothing enabled that allows remote control. No universal plug and play , no easy media configuration. Everything has to be done locally the hard way.
I do am planning to make a home server one day but i will do that with a microcontroller based board with custom software. Maybe not that fast, but will allow me to use it as a read only dataserver.

"Linksys ships these products with the Remote Management Access feature turned off by default. Customers who have not enabled the Remote Management Access feature are not susceptible to this specific malware."
The firm said that customers who have enabled the Remote Management Access feature can prevent further vulnerability of their network by disabling it and rebooting their router to remove the installed malware.
"Linksys will be working on the affected products with a firmware fix that is planned to be posted on our website in the coming weeks," the company added.

If you are not running the Linksys firmware then yes you're fine. The fault lies within that firmware.

It would be like asking if your computer is susceptible to the old blaster worm virus from the XP days when you're running a linux distro
