Everyone has their fingers in the ME pie, including themselves. If I could go back and change how we handled one thing in the 70's it would be to push energy research full force. The very best thing that could have happened would be to make the region irrelevant. Oil is a valuable raw material and no matter how low a bbl of oil goes it will come back up and we'll still be dependent on others. I'd rather that not be the case.
Hindsight truly is always 20/20 though, I could think of a few other things could have been handled better in the 70's that were pretty much ignored.

Just gotta move on I suppose.

Jordanian fighter jets strike hard at ISIS, pay tribute to murdered pilot

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/0...-king-against-isis-after-video-pilot-killing/

McCain seems to be pretty clueless in his old age as a side point, but that's just my opinion.

I think the strategy was to just support things till something like this happened to galvanize the ME and let the region police itself.

Turkey didn't bite a short while back, just drove to the border and ate popcorn.

This was pretty bad ass, I didn't read that one as I saw it earlier, but having the US ELINT and refueling in there was pretty cool.

Probably sent in Prowlers or something similar, not sure what the Air Force uses for electronic warfare these days, I didn't see the US ones mentioned specifically.

I think someone pissed off the wrong guys.

badass first strike for Jordan--but utterly shameful that Fox links the video in that article. Classless douchenozzles, but that shouldn't shock anyone.

King of Jordan
Abdullah was born in Amman to King Hussein during his marriage to British-born Princess Muna al-Hussein (born Antoinette Avril Gardiner)...

Abdullah began his schooling at the Islamic Educational College in Amman. He then attended St Edmund's School, Hindhead, in England, before continuing his education in the United States at Eaglebrook School and Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. In 1980 he joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, was commissioned into the British Army as a Second Lieutenant, and served for a year as a troop commander in the 13th/18th Royal Hussars. In 1982, Abdullah was admitted to Pembroke College, Oxford, where he completed a one-year Special Studies course in Middle Eastern Affairs. Upon returning home, he joined the Royal Jordanian Army, serving as an officer in the 40th Armored Brigade, and undergoing a parachuting and freefall course. In 1985, he attended the Armored Officer's Advanced Course at Fort Knox, and in 1986, he became commander of a tank company in the 91st Armored Brigade, holding the rank of Captain. He also served with the Royal Jordanian Air Force in its Anti-Tank Wing, where he was trained to fly Cobra attack helicopters...

King Abdullah has listed sky diving, rally racing, scuba diving, football, and science fiction among his interests and hobbies. He promotes tourism in Jordan, having served as a tour guide for Discovery Channel travel host Peter Greenberg in the "Jordan: The Royal Tour". In the program the king notes that since assuming the throne, he is no longer permitted to sky dive. King Abdullah also likes motorcycles, and toured Northern California on a Harley-Davidson in July 2010.

US gave billions of dollars worth of military equipment to an Iraqi government so corrupt that its soldiers ran rather than fight.

Same US government refused to even provide drones to the British/US educated King of Jordan...

Can't understand why the US government couldn't find a way to work with this guy...

That's a leader who knows how to 'play to the public' and is taking advantage of a damn good propaganda moment.

I guess that's the name of the game, when it comes down to those type of things.

Kinda like a Middle Eastern Putin, but he does seem concerned about his people more than many leaders in general.

On a side note, I read somewhere that Putin might actually have Asperger Syndrome, from some study done remotely.

Wouldn't be a surprise, I guess.

I'm pretty sure I read it off a news feed somewhere earlier today, but wouldn't be surprised if it was there.

It's possible, I don't memorize where I read everything I guess.

Jordan's foreign minister basically says they're going to throw everything they have at ISIS and they are certainly upping the ante. Even admits it's retaliatory warfare.

If asked about using ground troops, he says "We are going to use everything."

Looks like the US won't have to learn on how not to fight an ideology.

Maybe it will finally shut up those that want to "glass" the Middle East when they realize nothing will change (for the better).

I guess you mean other than their neighbors doing it themselves now.

Kinda wonder where that concept may have started.

Well, Mongrel, and ivwshane,

You seem to be having a heck of a night tonight. Giddy, in seeing a man burn?

So, I don't want to go there, in your mind, but be assured others see you.

I feel the same way, at the moment.

Right back at ya dude, your mind processes seem a bit slow.

Zorkorist has a history of medication-induced posting. ...best just to consider his thoughts with bewildered curiosity and leave it at that.
