I can't think of any other countries.. the liberal party in Asia is more conservative than the American conservatives. That goes the same for Central & South America. Africa & Middle East have far more important things to do, such as killing each other.

As for gay marriage, if it was not officially deemed a marriage somewhere, there was probabyl some sort of union elsewhere in the world. Things is it's probably not as big a deal in those countries, so you did not hear about it as much.

I was with my g/f at the time so that was taken care of .

I'm not sure; I thought Ukraine and former Soviet states were better for that sort of thing. Anyways, Sofia is a bit sketchy. Dirty concrete Communist-era buildings everywhere, and the street signs are all in Cyrillic so you have no idea where the hell you're going.
