the advice applies for bigger screens where a massive expanse of glass can flex and shatter if placed face down roughly.

Why don't these little LCDs come pre-assembled? I mean if it's a 40" screen with a large base, I can understand, but even some 24 and 22 with smallish bases don't come assembled.

I bought 1 doz Acer and 1 doz NEC 24" LCDs. Bought another 60 NEC...

I stopped buying the Acer because they required assembly and half the time the alignment marks were in the wrong place. And I don't mean slightly off, I mean like 30 to 60 degrees off. The NECs I pull out of the box and they're ready to go. Acer's black on black button markings didn't make the end users fans either...

ummm so is it wrong or not? i highly doubt that specific monitor could be sold pre-assembled because it got a very strange neck or stand. but should i assemble it some other way coz i highly doubt anyone placed a monitor face down to install some stand.

no dude the manual says to place it face down, so its okay from their pox. its just that long time ago i did do that to an old lcd screen and it cause red blacklight bleeding, was very severe but took it a month or so to disappear.

I've seen hundreds of LCDs be placed face-down on a desk before, with no deaths. I've also transported smallish LCDs (19"-23") in that manner. I wouldn't worry about it.
