So far Hamas has launched thousands of rockets at Israel, infiltrated Israel and reportedly taken Israeli hostages.
Here we go again.
Here we go again.
100%This is the worst that Hamas could have done for the Palestinian cause. Any goodwill in Europe will evaporate. The Palestinian people need a Gandhi. Non violent but active resistance is the only way forward for them.
A hot take...

Seems the Government of Israel will now be able to remove Hamas anyway they choose;

This is one way Hamas sent in armed small teams deep into Israel;

Except Gandhi/non violence didn't win us freedom, it was the second world war ironically. Of course he was right about (not having) the partition, but the Brits had sown seeds of discourse for decades leading to that outcome! The issue these days is that, much like in the past, people aren't willing to share or concede/listen to the other side. Sure Israel is at fault for their continuous encroachment on disputed(?) territory but really they can do that only because they can get away with it & anyone who can almost always does ~ from ancient Rome to the emerging/belligerent China & yes yours truly the US of A.The Palestinian people need a Gandhi. High probability that conflict will remain until the land becomes uninhabitable from climate change, at which point nobody will care.True tragedy all of the land loss the Palestinians have incurred over generations. But yeah ... this isn't helping the Palestinians. One step forward, two steps back. I don't see how there will ever be genuine lasting peace when so many flavors of hatred run so deep. You can broker a peace deal and have temporary peace there until someone looks at someone else the wrong way then it's on like Donkey Kong all over again.
Hamas enables Netanyahu. An existential threat will always give rise to a set of 'strong man' politics. If Hamas didn't exist or were a marginalised power left wing political parties might be more successful in Israel.Sure Israel is at fault for their continuous encroachment on disputed(?) territory but really they can do that only because they can get away with it & anyone who can almost always does ~ from ancient Rome to the emerging/belligerent China & yes yours truly the US of A.
Damn right it does. That's one of the first thoughts I had when I started reading about what was going on. This is a gift presented on a silver platter to Netanyahu courtesy of Hamas HQ. He gets back in office and voila, "should have put me back in sooner, SEE!"Hamas enables Netanyahu.
It's a vicious circle, whatever Israel did/does gets more Palestinians to support Hamas which in turn enables Netanyahu even more. The only realistic way to get this over with is probably a full scale war.Hamas enables Netanyahu. An existential threat will always give rise to a set of 'strong man' politics. I'll take the under on that all day. I'd be surprised if they aren't blaming Biden right now. Everything else they've been blaming him for hasn't been resonating.I worry Netanyahu will be allowed to go full authoritarian. He already tried to take over the courts.
What’s the over/under before Fox News and other right wing media blame Biden? 2 days?
@K1052 aren't Israel and Russia buddies? I thought the former were offering aid to the latter re Ukraine? I can't remember the specifics.
