Lebanon has bombed Israel.
Israel has responded with a drone strike.
Hezbollah has previously vowed for blood if Israel ever touches Gaza. Looks like they are starting to make good on that.

Awesome, even more blood will be spilt:

Hezbollah, which effectively controls southern Lebanon, said on Saturday it was in “direct contact” with leaders of Palestinian “resistance” groups. The group said it saw Palestinian attacks on Israel as a “decisive response to Israel’s continued occupation and a message to those seeking normalisation with Israel”.

If these attacks are normalized compare to the US population, it would be like us losing ~8500 85,000** ppl in the 911 attacks. Everyone knows how we responded. Expecting Israel to leave Hezbollah on the side lines is a fantasy, IMHO.

There are innocents in Palestine that have been oppressed for generations by Israel. On the flip side, not everyone in Israel is a right wing nut job. There are those that genuinely want to live in peace with their neighbors. Hospitals should NEVER be bombed.

Sadly for both sides, I think it's reached a boiling point where hardliners on both sides will not allow this to end in peace.
I understand. Unfortunately, the hardliners in Israel out number, percentage wise, the hardliners in the US by a fair margin. I mean, look at what the gen pop has accepted for the past 40 years wrt to marginalizing Arabs within their borders. The wars, the terrorist bombings they’ve been subjected to has really had a negative effect on the national psyche. Im not absolving the average Israeli or ignoring those who were opposed to these crimes the government committe. But the net result is heavy us vs them mentality.

You can apply it to the other side just as well. Not only Gaza, WB, but Lebanon has seen far more destruction at the hands of the Israelis since their 1982 invasion of the country and 2006 attack. That by an order of magnitude compared to what the Israelis suffered. Western media just dont cover their suffering or humanize them like they do the Israelis.

Just pointing out what the Israeli perception will be in a way Americans can relate too. I consider Israel's crimes against humanity to be repulsive.

I expect little to no on-scene media coverage of the upcoming Israeli onslaught onto Gaza. Mainly because the media know the Israelis target them purposely and will be just as priority targets as the Hammas fighters. Only the bravest will be there if at all. Coverage will likely be from a distance where none of the gory details can be revealed.

The US is going to get dragged into another war because Israel chooses to take land. I can't justify what happened, but this seems like the same cycle. I'm exhausted from it. We need to push Israel to make peace. But we can't have a real conversation about this with Republicans and their reflexive BS.

I'm kind of amazed at the death toll thus far, this is much worse than a 9/11 for Israel. The number of dead IDF and killed/kidnapped citizens is mind boggling.

Yeah, they're going to flatten Gaza. IDF won't stop until Hamas is wiped out. Even darker days ahead. This will change the ME forever. So many people are going to die on both sides. Makes me so angry to think of all the children who won't have parents when this is over.

Palestinian Foreign Ministry has gone bat shit insane. They want wide spread international condemnation of Israel's nerve to fight back against coordinated widespread terror attacks, or it's "a double standard."

They're acting like Israel just decided to bomb people for no reason. Sorry Hamas, you can't ambush hundreds of civilians, murder them, kidnap them, then complain when you encounter resistance. If the killing of Palestinian civilians is a war crime, then so too is the killing of Israeli civilians. If you set out to murder civilians, you are a terrorist, period.

The blame Biden caucus is out today. That tool Mike Pompeo blaming Biden for everything in the Middle East. Not once did he mention the Israeli intelligence failure.

Israel and Hezbollah exchange fire. Unknown at this point if that will escalate.

Someone speaking for Hezbollah in that article toward the bottom said it saw Palestinian attacks on Israel as a “decisive response to Israel’s continued occupation and a message to those seeking normalisation with Israel”.

That concept has already been touched on by someone in this thread, forget who but I know someone brought up the notion.

Hamas and Hezbollah do not want normalized relations between Israel and anyone else in the Middle East being a 'thing.'
Per the bolded...

Some in the Arab world were coming to terms with Israel. Most notably Saudi Arabia. From what I understand, part of the deal was the US pressing Israel to some form of concessions to the Palestinian Authority and possible exchanges for conversations about US security guarantees for Saudi Arabia. Obviously this is threatening to Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, because it would have somewhat isolated them. This deal was for the most part gaining some traction in the Arab world.

Obviously, these attacks are a good way to destroy its prospects, at least in the near term. Now Arabs are watching US weapons in Israeli hands killing large numbers of Pals. Even though fucking Hamas is brutally murdering Israeli's. That will ignite strong emotions and any peace deal is in the rear-view mirror. If Mohommed Bin Salman had ANY balls and courage what so ever, he would tell Hamas to get fucked, and tell the Arab world - my way is the way. Not the Hamas, Hezzbolah, Iran way. That way only brings death, destruction and misery to the Palestinian people. That kind of courage by an Arab leader might be too much to expect. I don't see it happening. we'll see.

Mike Pompeo and the rest of Team Treason trying to blame Biden can eat a dick salad. Anyone in the States who wants to attribute Palestinian fury to a cause should probably start with 2016-2020 (for starters).

Right wingers in the US and Israel happily scuttled the possibility of a two state solution. Palestinians continued to be kicked out of their houses and illegal settlements continued to be built.

Show me someone who thinks this was caused by Iranian funds being released to Qatar a few weeks ago, and I'll show you a damn moron.

This is literally another nail in the coffin for Israel. I am not saying that as if they lost some skirmish or land. They will rollover the Gaza and punish in their own way.

Israel had already a bigger problem brewing in the last decade, which was a demographic one. I will share the video that talks about it below, but what Israel is becoming is just another Middle Eastern country, haunted by thousands of years of Adult's Stories (Religion) making it unattractive for people who would like to live and prosper. This video is published recently but before the attacks. But it is for sure that Netanyahu and the Ultra religious have gained the excuse to establish their authority on the nation.

Just like Turkey, who is having a huge brain-drain to the West (because of authoritarian Erdogan and his Islamists have gotten absolute power), Israel's loss of talent will accelerate. Yes it is a miracle country on a desert but I don't think it will continue its pace and shining as an example star.

So what Hamas has done, works for the Hawks and kills the wisdom on both sides

Not to justify violence (I'll never do that), but just this past week saw news of hardline Jewish extremists spitting on protesters at a Holy site and a hardline extremist (an American Citizen tourist) smashing Roman art sculptures at a museum over idolatry.

Im sorry for the Palestinian people but what Hamas did with this terrorist attack on civilians will make them pay dearly and make the whole world against them.
The Barbarism showcased by Hamas against human life dead or alive , especially of Civilians is beyond humanity in 2023 AD and will only make the entire world sympathetic towards Israel.
Im sorry to say but with those tactics, Hamas is not better than ISIS and I cannot even shed a single tear if Israel will completely erase from the map the entire Gaza strip the next days.
I always had feelings for both Palestinians and Israelis and I was hopping they could solve their problems peacefully one day by trying to understand each others needs and problems.
Today, I sincerely can only give my deepest condolence's and support to the people of Israel and hope that Palestinians will only learn from this terrible day that by supporting and hiding Hamas and by acting like savages will never make them find peace.
I have a feeling that after today, Palestinians will be left alone with no support from anyone except Iran and will sustain more pain and hardship the following years and no matter how much they will scream for help , no one will listen after those images Hamas left behind.

Am I misreading headlines, or am I see as much or more support for Hamas than for Israel? There seem to be comparisons to Ukraine, but painting Israel as the occupiers and Hamas as the defenders of their lands.

Don't think it makes sense to compare this to 9/11. The Palestinians had their nation stolen from them and are now second class citizens under the boot of a modern day apartheid state. I hope they win and are able to take some of their land back from colonial rule.

Why is it a terrorist attack here but it's just war when we firebombed the shit out of Tokyo and incinerated 100,000+ women and children?

A better comparison would be if American Indian tribes rose up in 2001.

But it was the Saudis and we attacked their enemies for them.
