Israel just isn't going to stop till they are salified that they have taken out HAMAS command and control and captured/killed most of the leadership that exists within HAMAS. Once they have good control over a sector with a well defended road leading to a hospital, then they will probably allow some humanitarian aid in - just to take pressure off their allies (they don't really care). All the Arab nations are backing off. They don't want to have to deal with the Palestinians either and many aren't keen on losing access to the local high tech resources that Israel has. So, allot of thunder with no lightning.
Even the Iranians are backing off. We've launched some deadly USAF strikes against Iranian backed Iraqi militia groups after our bases were attacked. Iran got the message, especially with two CSGs in the region. The US government has had a long history of backing Israel and is probably waiting an 'appropriate' amount of time before we push for a cease fire when Israel has achieved some of it's more important military goals. We are also in a difficult place given what we did after the 9/11 bombings - not exactly a shining moment for the US.
So that just that. People can keep protesting, and I hope they do, but I don't see anything changing over the next few weeks unless HAMAS just collapses unexpectedly under IDF pressure.
I am deeply saddened by the high civilian death toll and the lack of food, water and medical care. I'm just pointing out that Realpolitik is a bitch. That's all.
