Almost all of the hostages were freed from the south (except one exchange) which was relatively untouched. The Bibas family is also supposedly in Khan Yunis which is in the south.

Regarding burnt bodies, Hamas used RPGs, grenades and similar weapons that could easily cause cars to combust.

The level of destruction I have seen aligns more with heavy weaponry. Also there has been reports in the Haaretz that Israeli soldiers caused some of the deaths/damage. Also, an Israeli spokesman admitted that some of the burned bodies were Hamas. I assume from the Israeli counter attack.

Plus, not to be too graphic, but AFAIK explosives (or at least the kind of explosives that set a car ablaze) tend to tear bodies into pieces (which then may or may not be on fire). If it doesn't fragment you, you probably survive enough to get away from fire.

Incendiaries on the other hand just kill you with said fire, so you end up as a nice charred husk rather than burnt hamburger meat.

I'm sure that there were some Israeli civilians and even soldiers that were killed by the IDF, but I wouldn't put my money that a lot of them were (relatively to the total 364 killed in the party). You can clearly see a lot of damaged cars way before IDF arrived, and they arrived very very late. The survivors' stories paint a clear picture of mass executions, as well as the videos that were released.

I will add that even if cars were indeed destroyed by the IDF (which I do not think is true), and bodies were burned - it could have happened after the fact, way after the people inside of the cars were already gunned down.

This is quite likely the worst fuckup in Israel's history. That a ton of people have not been fired and the government resigned is a scandal.

Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan More Than a Year Ago

A blueprint reviewed by The Times laid out the attack in detail. Israeli officials dismissed it as aspirational and ignored specific warnings.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/30/world/middleeast/israel-hamas-attack-intelligence.html

Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out.

The approximately 40-page document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people.

The translated document, which was reviewed by The New York Times, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters.

Hamas followed the blueprint with shocking precision. The document called for a barrage of rockets at the outset of the attack, drones to knock out the security cameras and automated machine guns along the border, and gunmen to pour into Israel en masse in paragliders, on motorcycles and on foot — all of which happened on Oct. 7.

Then, in July, just three months before the attacks, a veteran analyst with Unit 8200, Israel’s signals intelligence agency, warned that Hamas had conducted an intense, daylong training exercise that appeared similar to what was outlined in the blueprint.

But a colonel in the Gaza division brushed off her concerns, according to encrypted emails viewed by The Times.

“I utterly refute that the scenario is imaginary,” the analyst wrote in the email exchanges. The Hamas training exercise, she said, fully matched “the content of Jericho Wall.”

“It is a plan designed to start a war,” she added. “It’s not just a raid on a village.”

Officials privately concede that, had the military taken these warnings seriously and redirected significant reinforcements to the south, where Hamas attacked, Israel could have blunted the attacks or possibly even prevented them.

The war resumes:
The pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas is over, the Israel Defense Forces said a few minutes after 7 a.m. Friday local time, when the pause was due to end. Israel’s military said Hamas had “violated the operational pause and, in addition, fired toward Israeli territory.” The Washington Post could not immediately verify that claim. Hamas said in a subsequent statement that Israel had resumed operations in Gaza. Sirens were ringing in Israeli communities near the Gaza border as Israeli warplanes resumed strikes in Gaza, according to the IDF. The day before, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Israel had agreed to U.S. demands that it must minimize civilian deaths in Gaza once fighting resumes. On Thursday, eight more hostages and 30 Palestinian prisoners were freed.
Hopefully Blinken was effective with his demand.

I had hoped the ceasefire would last longer. This is very disappointing.

And Israelis don't listen to their women, either.

While Israel wants to start attacking southern Gaza it seems that Blinken advised them not to do it in the same manner as their move into northern Gaza

Blinken: You can’t operate in southern Gaza in the way you did in the north. There are two million Palestinians there. You need to evacuate fewer people from their homes, be more accurate in the attacks, not hit UN facilities, and ensure that there are enough protected areas [for civilians]. And if not? Then not to attack where there is a civilian population. What is your system of operation?

IDF Chief Herzi Halevi: We follow a number of principles — proportionality, distinction, and the laws of war. There were instances where we attacked on the basis of those principles, and instances where we decided not to attack, because we waited for a better opportunity.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant: The entire Israeli society is united behind the goal of dismantling Hamas, even if it takes months.

Blinken: I don’t think you have the credit for that.

tldr: terror attack in Jerusalem yesterday, armed citizen was able to neutralize the two attackers, soldiers came, he dropped his weapon and raised his hands, then he was shot

The late Yuval Doron Castleman, the civilian who shot the terrorists who committed the shooting at the entrance to Jerusalem, was shot by soldiers under suspicion that he himself was a terrorist. In footage, he can be seen raising his hands, and yet the soldiers shoot in his direction anyway. 3 civilians were killed at the liftershalte by two terrorists from east Jerusalem who were identified with Hamas at the entrance to the capital city - tonight Yuval died too of his wounds, after being shot at the scene. Aviad Frigia, one of the soldiers who took part in thwarting the attack told channel 14 about eliminating the terrorists: "we shot them until they fell."

Castelman, 38 years old from Mevaseret Zion, acted bravely when he shot the terrorists and thus prevented the massacre from continuing. The soldiers who saw what was happening stopped their vehicle and participated in neutralizing the terrorist - but accidentally shot towards Yuval's direction, who was badly wounded, and hours later he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The soldiers testified in their investigation that they thought Castleman was a terrorist and therefore shot him, this despite Castleman laying down his weapon and raising his hands. The police did not open a criminal investigation against the soldiers since the event is being treated as a two-sided shooting.

Not surprising at all. They are cowards and trained to shoot at unarmed people, dangerous or not.

Terrorists deserve no mercy!!! Level Gaza.
You are insane.

Terrorists deserve no mercy.

The vast majority of people in Gaza are not terrorists.

I wish the IDF the best in exterminating Hamas. I wish the Palestinian people the best in escaping Hamas's attempt to exterminate them by using the IDF as a weapon against them.

But leveling Gaza? That is what Hamas wants. Hamas wishes to destroy Israel by turning it into a monster. It is already half way there. Hamas will sacrifice every civilian in Gaza to achieve that final step. Only a terrorist would want what Hamas wants.

Amazing how the MSM have nearly completely ignored the resumption of Israels bombing campaign. Look at all the MSM outlets, no headlines on it. I smell Israels manipulative fingers all over this.

-Hell, my daughter asked me today "Dad, did the Ukraine Russia war end cause all anyone talks about is Israel Gaza now"

So I had to have the "News is a business like anything else, and it both follows and shapes it's customers" conversation with the kid on the drive to school today.

People might be finally starting to figure this out. Israel is and has been a terrorist state for some time now. They are an oppressive apartheid murdering state. This is how its been working.
You are delusional.

Israel is no more a terrorist state then Palestine is.

Likud/Hamas are the same thing, minority governments with genocidal goals. They worked together to create this, and to say they represent Israel/Gaza is inaccurate at best.
