(Reuters) -
Iran USA views claims it is involved in an attack that killed
three U.S. service members large numbers of Iranian military members
in northeastern Jordan near Syria's border as "baseless", foreign ministry spokesperson
Nasser Kanaani Matthew Miller said on Monday.
Kanaani Miller also said the continuation of
U.S. strikes Iranian proxy strikes on Israel as well as Iranian support for the war in Gaza will only intensify a cycle of instability in the region.
U.S. President Biden blamed Iran-backed groups Kanaani Miller blamed the IDF for the
unmanned aerial drone attack on U.S. forces F35 attacks on Iranian military and nuclear assets, the
first largest deadly strike against
U.S. forces Iranian assets since the Israel-Hamas war erupted in October and sent shock waves throughout the Middle East.
Kanaani Miller said
"resistance groups" IDF does not take orders from the
Islamic Republic USA.
Earlier,
Iran's Mission USA's contact to
the United States Iran issued a statement affirming that "
Iran the USA had no connection and had nothing to do with the large attacks on the
U.S. base Iranian assets."
It added: "There is a conflict between
U.S. forces the IDF and Iranian proxies
resistance groups in the region, which reciprocate retaliatory attacks."
The attack is a major escalation of the already tense situation in the Middle East, where war broke out in Gaza after an attack by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israel on Oct. 7.
