It seems to me the actual cause of the massacre of Palestinians (and who knows how many Hamas instigators were in the mix) was having the aid trucks driving in willy nilly and not having any means for crowd control. You couldn't ask for a better way to create a riot over who gets food and who does not. What happened was much like throwing raw meat into a pack of penned up starving dogs.
You starve people for months, no water, no safe living places, absolute terror from Israeli-American bombs and you have this. This is like WW2 type of crimes Israel is doing and most of the non-Western world sees this.

Not at all. It's the folks who are in charge of distributing the aid that's responsible.
Israel supporters are worse than even American foreign policy supporters because they have total control over a population. So that means that since Israel has total control over a population, they are 100% responsible for all the deaths and destruction of the Palestinian, along with their American allies. Blaming Palestinians is like blaming some poor Afghan villager because America bombed his village.

Israeli people are blocking the Rafah border and celebrating blocking the aid trucks while people are actually starving and suffering. You will not see this on Western media, such as Fox News or CNN, because of so much bias.

The IDF are war criminals and commit genocide because that's the Israeli policy. Their society believes that Palestinian people are animals and deserve constant punishment. They want to take over Gaza period but that is not all - they want to punish the Palestinian people because they hate them so much. You say the hate is mutual? This is true but read history first. From the moment of Israel's founding, with the help of the UK first and then America later, it has been just land stealing and killing the native people of the land. So the Palestinians have a legitimate right o fight back, no?

Read this please and tell me the IDF are regular soldiers and NOT war criminals and genociders:

"It was the tongue that stopped me cold. The tongue and the savage, shit-eating grin on the soldier’s face as he and his buddy mug for the camera. Look at us! Look what we found. It’s a bra, a woman’s bra, a Palestinian woman’s bra left in a home she was forced to flee. And now it’s ours, and we’re going to play with it because we can, and we’re going to take it on the street and pose with it and show the world who we are, frat boys pumped for genocide.

There is something unspeakably vile and infantile about the images of Israeli troops circulating on social media showing them posing for pictures with intimate apparel pilfered from the bedrooms of Gazan women. Amid the daily onslaught of murder, deprivation, and forced starvation, not to mention images of mutilated Palestinian children, here are Israeli soldiers beside themselves with self-congratulatory glee, gallivanting around snatching bras and ogling panties.

How could they? But of course, they could. Of course, they would. While most militaries strive to present at least a public veneer of discipline and self-control, the IDF is charting a new course in the socially grotesque, delighted to revel in the foulest behavior aimed at total disregard for Palestinian life.

But these images, showing soldiers playing amidst their dirty work, shook me more than others. The video of women IDF soldiers dancing awkwardly with Gaza crumbling in the background was more pathetic than painful. The soldiers blowing up a building for their IG livestreams was brazen cynicism. The soldier who made a how-to video showing how he defecates in a plastic bag because there is no water in Gaza toilets, and then throwing that bag casually amid the rubble, was just plain disgusting.

There is another picture circulating. It shows an IDF soldier with a box of new white jeweled dress high heels, which he’s looted from a Palestinian woman. He’s going to bring them home and give them as a present to his woman instead. A souvenir from a genocide.

My mind focuses on the texture of the shoes, the intricate design, and the dimensions of the box. I travel to a place where I can see the woman who bought those shoes. Maybe she was planning to wear them for the wedding of a son or a daughter, or maybe she was going to celebrate her own anniversary or wanted something special for an upcoming family gathering. I eliminate the soldier from the frame and instead hold her close in my thoughts away from his prying hands.

U.S. Central Command and the Royal Jordanian Air Force conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Gaza, CENTCOM said in a statement.
This is how agency is removed from Hamas.

Hamas can control the border, the distribution of aid coming through the checkpoints. Hamas infiltrated the UN, used it to leverage its own power.
Hamas cannot control aid floating down from the sky. Hamas cannot claim to be the savior of anything when it has no hand in it.

Aid has been used as a weapon throughout the last decades of this conflict, this is another step of that. Cynical yes, cruel yes, but at least some people will get to eat.

Just pretend those Gazans are Ukrainian. All the unspeakable vileness and looting will suddenly not matter to you at all. Et voila. Anguish avoided. *dusts hands*

Using the least efficient method at sending in aid -

During the 1948 Berlin airlift, there were 2.5 million people in West Berlin. It took 500 planes with 10-ton capacity every day.

this isn't an attempt at feeding anybody, its providing cover to the protracted starvation of the population by claiming they are providing aid.

Like they're on spring break, except celebrating the destruction they've wreaked. I don't know another people/country in today's world that are so sick and twisted. This is like WWII Japanese level of twisted, how much pleasure they are taking in this.

The IDF are almost all war criminals, as is Netanyahu.

Aside from NYT and others, there some stirring within CNN staffers as well. Much of MSM reporting on the conflict is corrupted in one way or another, incl anything that goes through their Jerusalem bureaus which requires Israeli military censors approval.

In Internal Meeting, Christiane Amanpour Confronts CNN Brass About “Double Standards” on Israel Coverage

Like other mainstream news organizations, CNN has faced a flood of internal and external criticism of its coverage of Israel and Gaza since October 7, accused of minimizing Palestinian suffering and uncritically amplifying Israeli narratives. Just this week, CNN described an Israeli massacre of more than 100 starving people who were gathered to get food as a “chaotic incident.” Earlier this month, The Guardian published an extensive story sourced to multiple CNN staffers who described the network’s Gaza coverage as “journalistic malpractice.”...

One issue that came up repeatedly is CNN’s longtime process for routing almost all coverage relating to Israel and Palestine through the network’s Jerusalem bureau. As The Intercept reported in January, the protocol — which has existed for years but was expanded and rebranded as SecondEyes last summer — slows down reporting on Gaza and filters news about the war through journalists in Jerusalem who operate under the shadow of Israel’s military censor...

Just say'in that the background not matching the ground the soldiers are posing on seems a bit suspicious. This coming from my experience as a tortured photoshop user from way back when.

well, there is you. Your pretty sick and twisted in the amount of pleasure your taking in this picture.

seriously, are you that ignorant?

Any soldier, any combat zone, is always giddy to survive. 100% of the time. It has nothing to do with politics.

Do you even think conscripted IDF soldiers care about politics on the pointy end? Are you delusional?

You are the only one that mentioned politics, not me. And have you been under a rock, or only reading news from Israeli sources? If you think this photo is a one-off, or that there haven't been even more depraved actions being recorded for social media clicks...I don't know what to tell you.

Hamas started the whole thing off. Israel is using it as an excuse to empty out Gaza by any and all means. That includes slaughtering civilians by the 10s of thousands. Do you find that acceptable?

Survive what? A fully modernized army with air and ground support, funded by the US with cutting edge weapons, against a rag tag group of some dudes with AK's. They are mostly just leveling civilian structures and killing civilians, having a fun ethnic cleansing and genocide. What are they actually surviving, do tell.

That was a great point made about how sick these people are. Plenty of other things back their attitude up quite well.

These two groups should not live together. It's incompatible and it is a waste of tax dollars here going to Israel and Palestine.

No more AIPAC or lobbying groups buying out politicians in America.

You need rigid apartheid here.

Give one side to Israel and one side to Palestine.

Neither side is allowed to enter the other side.

That's my two state solution.

End of story.

Have at it.

So if the photo is legit and if he used Photoshop, the photog did a lot of post processing by desaturating the background further to highlight the foreground. As well, he saturated and vibranced the foreground for even more separation. It also looks like he maxed out his aperture on the lens so a 100-400 lens is typical @ 4.5 for maximum bokeh, and probably further blurred the background while sharpening the foreground for more separation with in-app unsharp mask or third party tool like Topaz Sharpen AI. Probably adjusted the background/foreground a bit further with brightness/contrast and shadows/highlights. Of course, this a considered guess as far as post processing goes. Lots of layering to do with that amount of processing going on. Altogether a nice composition, just not raw.

The DOF seems pretty legit for that kind of zoom. Considering there looks to be a big dropoff right after the soldiers and the background this starts much farther back, it's not unusual.

Of course it's not raw, there is always some post. But like you said, we have no idea.

But yes. Great composition that shows their inhumanity.

Yep, there is a goodly amount of natural distance between the foreground to background that helped a lot with separation and as the photog mentioned, long lens compression added to the drama.
