Netanyahu said he valued holding the Egypt-Gaza border more than the lives of the remaining hostages in a cabinet meeting
I would imagine that the aim of many a politician is staying in power and that more people in Israel are concerned about the expansion of the Zionist state than have relatives who are hostages and the value of whose lives outweigh that feeling. Fear makes people conservative and the fear can be real or imagined.

Because real knowledge terrifies people we live in a world full of fear where thought and imagination create an invisible prison and fear merchants win elections. This happens because we are ignorant, not that there is evil in the world that needs putting down. If we want to save the world we just need to wake up. Of course you can always put yourself on ignore.

The UK has suspended a grand total of 30 out of 350 arms export licences to Israel, and has-been Boris Johnson chimes in with his classic grasp of the situation:

"Johnson writes on X: “Hamas is still holding many innocent Jewish hostages while Israel tries to prevent a repeat of 7 October massacre.

"Why are Lammy and Starmer abandoning Israel? Do they want Hamas to win?”"

Isn't the answer to your query kind of obvious?

Traditionally the aim of a war (post Geneva convention at any rate) was to force the opposing force to surrender. In such a conflict, eliminating as many enemy combatants / military resources as possible was the name of the game.

Therefore no Hamas casualties are being reported, that means two possibilities: 1) Israel hasn't killed any (or an embarrassingly low number of) Hamas operatives, or 2) Killing enemy combatants is not Israel's objective.

BBC reports "at least half of Gaza's buildings damaged or destroyed" and over 80% of the population displaced , dated January 2024.

If there's minimal and questionable evidence of Gazan military assets being targeted, and tonnes of evidence of civilian casualties and assets being destroyed, then logically why should one believe that this is a conflict between two military forces and the minimisation of civilian losses?
The Geneva Convention is more a set of guidelines these days. A certain aspirational hope of the deluded.

The GC has become worthless when superpowers can flout it at will or when they or their allies insist this is they way it will be upheld or not. Legality or rules of law are irrelevant (unless they serve their interests).

It always was worthless from that perspective. Law is meaningless without a force with which to enforce it. That force would have to be capable of say capturing a leader of a developed nation and bring them to their day in court.

From what I know of the GC, it's an ideal that ought to be valued. I do FWIW. It shouldn't be too much to ask any country to say that they shouldn't wage war that involves massacring civilians, treat POWs reasonably, etc.

With this West Bank incursion I really am questioning why I don't see any stronger stance from the Biden administration. And by stance I mean actual action. This is starting to get a bit ridiculous.

It had already become ridiculous by the 2nd month of the conflict. The real question is how long will the US allow a foreign power to suck up all its support and resources without conditions and do whatever it wants and at the cost of tremendous damage to its political and moral credibility and greater interests. The tail has wagged the dog so obviously for so long it boggles the mind.

I doubt Biden wants to change the current pro-Israel policy; but even if he did, he's not going to rock the boat two months before the election.

In Kamala Harris' DNC speech, she said she supports Palestinians right to peaceful lives so I'm hopeful that if she's elected POTUS, she will back up those words with real action. We all know what Trump's Israel policy would be like.

What part of "complicit in war crimes" does the US not understand?

Preventing Ukraine from using allied weapons on Russian soil while Israel is free to lay waste to Gaza coz they have a claim to it?

Well i did nazi that coming from these fine people

/bonus...these are the nice boys?
More on these Zio-Nazis...

A clip from an English-language Israeli podcast showing hosts Naor Meningher and Eytan Weinstein discussing the idea of eradicating all Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza has gone viral online.

In an episode of Two Nice Jewish Boys, which aired three weeks ago, host Weinstein said: “If you gave me a button to just erase Gaza, every single living being in Gaza would no longer be living tomorrow. I would press it in a second.”

He claimed that “most Israelis” would do the same. Meningher added that they would also want to wipe out Palestinians in “the territories”...

“Full-scale war wouldn’t mean that we’re just in Gaza,” he added. “And it also wouldn’t mean what we’re doing in Gaza, because in Gaza, maybe there’s mass destruction but there's not massive death.”

“Forgive us if we don’t give a shit if everybody there dies. It’s just the way we feel. It’s just the way Israelis feel,” Weinstein said.

In a later episode, the two discussed what they deemed to be Israel’s failures in its ongoing war on Gaza, with Weinstein saying that the government should stop “trying to get international acceptance” and “instil sovereignty over and annex the West Bank, Gaza… make it all Israel”...

On the UN-led polio vaccination programme currently underway in Gaza, Meningher said: “It’s unclear to me, why do we give this humanitarian relief when our hostages never saw a Red Cross?”

“The baby that’s born in Gaza is technically innocent, I could give zero fucks, I don’t care if he gets polio,” Weinstein said.

CBC journalist Evan Dyer shared the clip on X, pointing to Meningher’s former media roles in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s last five political campaigns.

“This is not a fringe show or fringe people… the show is as mainstream as it gets,” Dyer wrote, citing a review of the podcast by Times of Israel that billed it as a “platform for free and open conversations”.

I think many of us have known this is the way Israel operates and is an evil fucking regime from decades back...

The United Nations is warning the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains “beyond catastrophic” as more than 1 million Palestinians in Gaza did not receive any food rations in August amid Israel’s relentless assault. Israel’s 11-month campaign has killed more than 15,000 children and enabled the besieged territory’s first polio outbreak in a quarter-century. INARA founder Arwa Damon just got back from spending two weeks in Gaza, where the nonprofit currently provides medical and mental healthcare to Palestinian children. “Israel has decimated every single aspect of any sort of infrastructure within the Gaza Strip, from sewage to water to electricity to you name it,” says Damon, who reports that humanitarian assistance has diminished significantly while displaced Palestinians play a “macabre, dark, twisted game” of trying to escape constant Israeli bombing...
