The only way to be more targeted is boots on the ground - and the IDF isn't ready for that. They are still gearing up their army. They also need to get SPEC OPS and Intel guys in there first to find and retrieve at least some hostages. Then the army goes in, and shit is going to get wrecked. As usual, civilians in this kind of conflict (well, in most conflicts) will pay the heaviest price. I'll probably bug out of this thread and limit what I watch on the news at some point. It's just so f*cking sad to think about what is going to happen.

I wont deny your sayings i was just talking of crude numbers, so far 90% of those killed in Gaza are civilians, dunno for the ratio of the other side since we have no definitive numbers from the israeli army, the last number was 163 soldiers killed but judging by the posted videos on X it could be well over this number.

As for a ground offensive dunno if it will happen, there s too much risks and i doubt israeli soldiers and moreover reservists soldiers are fit for a Stalingrad like battle.

Anyway we ll know the outcome in a few years, for the time we re just witnessing yet another barbaric step of this never ending conflict, after all France once had a 100 years conflict with England, so it s not an exception in history.

They were actively rejoicing in the streets on Saturday when news of the attack broke...the majority of them agree with use of violence against Isreal (probably because they have been brainwashed since birth). That's all I need to know.
So are many Israelis at what death and destruction they have dealt to the Pals over the decades. Baruch_Goldstein was a settler mass murderer who gunned down 29 innocent Pal civilians and has a shrine dedicated to him which many right wing settlers pay homage to:

Some were.

But the majority?

I saw one video of maybe a hundred people. I am sure there were others. There area is entirely controlled by a terrorist organization that can field around 20-40,000 combat personnel.

A bunch of people in the street do not represent anything.

Hardly representative of 2 million.

You have been DIPed.

Why are you falling for the propagandist?
They are the worst one here.

Nicole Zedeck, of international news channel i24NEWS, addressed skepticism over her reporting that quickly

spread Tuesday while on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show.”
“I witnessed some of those scenes with my own eyes"

She was there, on the ground, before recovery teams went in. Only the soldiers who cleared the homes of terrorists would know better.
Isn't that the same woman who originally said it was told to her by a soldier? Could be covering her ass now.

Again, I'm not saying it did or didn't happen. If you make this charge better have proof. Don't necessarily have to publish the pictures but take then to an independent news org, Reuters, AP or CNN and let them make the judgement if this is proof.

We need to stop spreading false news.

- It really doesn't, and it is minutae. Dead is dead. A baby getting shot in the neck with a 7.62 round is going to have its head come off. Decapitated, shot, who cares? It's a dead baby. Disregarding babies and children, even if 1300 grown men were killed, Israel was going to go in guns blazing.
Not that simple. You fail to grasp the intensely emotive mental images of monsters who would deliberately pluck babies out of their cribs and behead them. That can tremendously sway public opinion into justifying giving Israel carte blanche into wiping out Gaza with 100k children dead and not care as much about it.

- Nothing gives Israel carte blanche to go and kill 100K children. Bickering about what Hamas did or didn't do doesn't change that one single whit.

That said, Israel is gonna do what Israel is gonna do. How its always been.

Well, the IDF is massing on the border with Gaza - and not for nothing. House to house (or apartment) fighting has been going on for millennium. The US recently experienced this in Iraq in particular. Israel is laying siege to Gaza, a very typical tactic to soften resistance. Given the limited resources within Gaza, it'll happen fast - some hospitals are already running supplies caring for all the wounded from the bombings so far. No food coming in, no water, no electricity. As you rightly point out - the are European powers that fought, at least on and off, for decades or more. This could be a repeat of that.

I would think the vast majority of Pals in Gaza would be thinking "Oh no.. here we go again.. will we lose our house or our children killed or maimed"?

I tend to avoid the war threads for that very reason. So profoundly predictable and so deeply sad. It is the nature of sleep walking Zombies to create what they fear.

The Germans repressed the Jews which led to the creation if Israel in the middle of a preexisting Muslim people they in turn now repress. Now we see the rise of a new Jewish people, the Palestinians. And the answer always, for sleep walking Zombies, is that all will be well if we just repress them harder. In this way the insane reproduce themselves in the other to hide the true objective, the land they fight so hard to cling to. God says it's ours despite the fact that who you are is a total accident. Ring Around the Rosie....

The Zionist Movement was established during the late 19th century. For example, Tel Aviv was founded in 1909, even before the first world war. When Hitler was appointed as chancellor, there were around 200,000 Jews living in Palestine. I'm not saying the Jews were a majority (they were not), but it's not like the Jewish people had no connection with Israel, or didn't have a significant population there.

If anyone would like a refresher on what happened the last time IDF went into Gaza, here you go

Might have been helpful to give this to Hamas before their attack...oh wait...this is exactly what Hamas wanted...

At least they should be able to meet their recruitment goals for the next few month...

Beheading of babies and tossing grenades into rooms of kids is not "arguing minutae". It makes the difference between Israels ability to pulverize Gaza and withstand criticism of 100,000 Pal children dead (1 million children make up 1/2 of Gaza's inhabitants) and not being able to do that without a backlash of revulsion from world opinion. That can make a MASSIVE difference in how Israel conducts it wars, including the potential loss of support from its traditional allies as their publics become outraged by such casualty figures.
How does Hamas killing babies make Israel killing babies more palatable? You know it's actually quite easy to go through life without killing babies...

This may put a lid on talk that the $6 billion to Iran as part of prisoner release deal fueled the Hamas surprise attack:

From the NYTimes:

Wally Adeyemo, the deputy Treasury secretary, told House Democrats that Iran would no longer have access to $6 billion in funds that had been negotiated as part of a prisoner release deal last month.Credit...Stefani Reynolds/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images

Well? All of the $6 billion???

How its presented to the media is what makes the difference. Babies killed in what they would refer to as "collateral damage" is very different to monsters killing them up close and personal. Again, propaganda is vital to Israels war effort and they will milk it for all its worth.

You will not see headlines of babies killed in air strikes, but you will see them when (allegedly) committed by Hamas in brutal fashion.

The difference is one of intent.

An attack specifically targeting an infant is one thing.

An attack on a Hamas rocket team that is fleeing down the stairwell of a residential tower they just fired from is another thing entirely. Both are going to result in a dead infant.

But the intent of the two attacks are entirely different.
