Interesting question. The Kornet-E warhead is about 1/2 the weight of the Javelin's tandem HEAT round. It doesn't have quite the same penetrating power. It seems the the Armor on the Merkava is classified (RHA thickness or the type of composite/reactive armor) - it's a heavy tank, so I'm sure nothing was spared in terms of protection. If the 1.5s reload interval is correct, then Hezbollah's dual firing system would stop the first missile and take the brunt of the second. There is video out there of a Kornet missile taking out an M1A1 Abrams and a number of M1A1s were taken out in Iraq by varying means. The Kornet hit on the Abrams wasn't frontal, which I'm certain would fail to do much more than really annoy the crew. The thing about modern tanks, is that they can still be taken out by depleted Uranium rounds (DU) - it just takes more rounds impacting the same approximate area to penetrate the armor. A DU round is basically the bog standard kinetic round for tanks (KE). Hitting a tank between the 4 & 8 O'clock positions are generally the weakest points (taking about tank damages, which isn't necessarily crew loss) .
