Israel knows that Hezbollah has been getting stronger all these years. Remember that Israel lost to Hezbollah in 2006 and Hezbollah has only gotten stronger. They are a political as well as military movement. The rockets they fire at Israel are not even their better ones so Israel knows not to push too much. That's why Israel's main goal these days is to involve the US in these conflicts because that is the only way for it to remain dominant. Israel has not even eliminated most of Hamas, how can they dream of even damaging Hezbollah?
Since Israel cannot achieve military success, it resorted to targeting civilians and committing genocide.
That is also why Israel tried to escalate tensions in the region by attacking the Iranian embassy building in Syria, to hopefully draw Iran in to the conflict and then the US can come and save Israel. But from what I gather, the US will not fight Iran on Israel's behalf. It is too risky to the US bases in the Middle East, as they are largely not too fortified. Iran is very much capable to destroying them, along with destroying the region's refineries. This will be a huge blow to global economy so the US does not want that.
