I recall seeing various comments from Hamas suggesting they could accept a two-state solution, a few seconds on Google brings up this example.

You cannot be serious. LOL at you for being so naive it's sick...

Much like the Likud platform rejects Palestine's right to exist. Why do you only harp on one side of the problem?

Because even Netanyahu has outlined his ideas for an eventual Palestinian state, and he is "Mr. Likud." It's inevitable. I believe Israel is a civilized, Westernized nation that is pragmatic and above all, wants security. If a Palestinian state is a mean to that end they'll do it. But they won't be forced into it by rockets, suicide bombs, or empowering a government that seeks its destruction.

Again, here is the Likud platform denying Palestine's right to exist:

The Government of Israel flatly rejects the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan river.

And none of Netanyahu's doublespeak has done anything to contradict that portion of the Likud platform, let alone change it.

So what? The original PLO platform was eliminating Israel, not creating a Palestinian state.

Article 24: This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area. Its activities will be on the national popular level in the liberational, organizational, political and financial fields.

http://www.un.int/palestine/PLO/PNA2.html

Perhaps if the Palestinians actually an historical claim to "Palestine" and didn't sabotage the half a dozen agreements designed to give them a state on a silver platter, then i may sympathize with their plight.

But we all know the palestinians were never meant to have a state. look at gaza, this is what happens when the palestinians are independent.

Why do you think the Arabs crushed PLO elements that didn't tow the syrian/jordanian/egyptian line?

WHY? Because they were racist against Palestinians? No, because Palestinians fuck up everything. In Lebanon, Palestinians are 10% of the population, and yet they are regulated to refugee camps and can't even access the country, apply for jobs, use hospitals, etc.

Jordan expelled the PLO in the 1970s after arafat tried to take over the hashemites, and nearly 15,000 were killed.

Nearly as many people died in the jordanian-PLO conflict in a single weekend than 35 years of fighting between israel and the palestinians.

netanyahu supports peace, if a palestinian state = peace fine, but the likud has never had faith in the arabs delivering on promises.

im sure the most extreme israeli would support a palestinian state if it meant a cessation of terrorism, one of the basic preconditions of Oslo 1 that the PLO has yet to honor.

Israel enforces its blockade of a terrorist Gaza and all hell is breaking loose all over the world.

Sink the bastards and soon they will run out of ships and dumb people.

The dumbasses are the ones that created an illegal blockade, ignore warnings about it, and then attacked a humanitarian ship in international waters.

If they sink a ship now there would be international intervention against them. Do it morons.

Well no one did squat about North Korea, and they wouldn't do squat about Israel except flop and twitch like they are now. Which doesn't matter anyway.

The Palestinians cannot get along with anyone and just like to cause problems.

Ok, what we have is Israel violently boarding a ship in international waters. Thankfully no one was killed or injured. Is Israel winning yet?

Short answer, this is just getting started, and is nothing new in terms of similar human conflicts. Rome was not built in a day and did not fall in a day.

But aid ships will keep coming and keep coming. And the longer Israel tries to keep stuck on stupid, the more world anger will fall on them.

When Gandhi took on the Brits in India, it took over three years to get the Brits to leave India, when the civil rights movement started in 1954, it took a decade to get the legislation passed, and apartheid in South Africa did not end overnight either.

We can all hope progress to a just mid-east peace will be without violence, but very soon, its probable that the aids ships will be escorted by war ships from a yet to be determined set of nations. And then the only way to avoid rather deadly encounters may be to enter Gaza from Egyptian waters.

Since the USA is essentially bribing Egypt to stay Israeli cooperative, it is my best guess that its going to be Obama and Egypt who will be on the horns of a dilemma. Obama will not be able to defy world opinion by supporting Israel nor can totally Obama abandon Israel. And the least route of resistance may be to have Egypt land aid ship Aid through Egyptian ports while allowing Israelis to inspect the cargo for weapons. As for the silly Israeli restrictions on cement and chocolate, that will be the first bullshit to go.

After that the Palestinian movement will keep going, until we have a just mid-east peace. Israel got away with it for 62 years, a short time compared to the Brits in India,
Apartheid in South Africa, and Jim Crow in the USA, but the its an inevitable beginning of the end of Palestinian oppression for Israel.

Nonsense, which is why you can't quote any actual laws to support that ridiculous claim.

RTFT, already done.

I guess we'll see what aid gets through this time. Until ALL civilian goods get through, these flotillas should keep coming.

talk of a Palestinian state is futile when there's absolutely no one in authority to make that kind of deal with the Israelis and, to the best of my knowledge, no Palestinian leader has ever been able to quell the "all Jews must die at any cost" faction.

It was a violent boarding this time?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, even though those aboard the ship did not resist Israeli violence, the ship was still forcibly boarded by Israeli commandos, in international waters. So we can add piracy to the Israeli actions.

It's actually not piracy when a state does it, it is an act of war, on yet another NATO country no less.

You say that as if you think it has any significance. I don't see it as an act of war, but even if you do, what is Ireland going to do? What is NATO going to do? NOTHING!

Can we move along now and bury this thread in the pathetic wastelands where it belongs?
