How can I fix this as I cant even get on my comp?now because it restarts automatically.

1) What Service Pack level is WinXP Pro at?

2) Is it protected by a firewall to stave off worm attacks?

I dont know what service pack it is, Its a fresh install and a new build so I dont have any firewalls running.

I see. You evidently have a functioning second computer, since you're here. Does it have a CD burner? If so,

1) use the working computer to download the complete Service Pack 2 installation file from Microsoft, and save it on a CD or a USB drive or something you can use offline: direct link to download page If you have no antivirus software, then also get a free 30-day trial of Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 5 and configure it as shown in that link when the time comes.

2) UNPLUG the network cable and/or remove any wireless cards/dongles. You want the computer 100% network-free so worms can't attack it automagically before it's been secured. :Q

3) Start Windows Setup from the CD again. When it shows the partitions on the hard drive, delete them all, then press the F3 key twice to exit from Windows Setup. Then start Windows Setup a second time and carry on with it.

4) keep the computer 100% network-free, and install Service Pack 2 from your CD that you burned. This gets the worm holes mostly patched, and gets the Windows Firewall turned on to protect the rest of the vulnerabilities until you can get them patched. SP2 also gets your USB2.0 and your DirectX 9.0C. When you are asked if you want the Automatic Updates enabled, choose Yes.

5) Resist the urge to install video drivers right away. After Service Pack2, now you can install your motherboard's chipset drivers, then reboot.

6) after the mobo chipset drivers and Service Pack 2, now install your video drivers and reboot.

7) fully enable DEP by right-clicking My Computer and doing what's shown here, then reboot again

8) now you can plug in your network cable and immediately update your antivirus software, then reboot as needed and complete the antivirus configuration after the reboot.

9) now run the system through Windows Update about three times until it's coming up fully patched.

I'd also recommend buying a router ASAP to put another barrier in the way of worm and hack attacks.

Maybe it's got some other issue. But the security stuff is important You might want to post the hardware specs, including brands and models of the power supply, RAM, motherboard, video card and processor, sometimes people can make good educated guesses at likely hardware issues.

Ok, that is good info. To start with, DFI says you should have a 480W minimum PSU for their nF4 boards, and it should be "native" ATX2.0, which means it's got PCI-Express video-card power cable and 24-pin main cable. Now, your PSU might get the job done anyway, and one thing that will help is if you have all four power cables hooked up. Look at the red numbers in this pic, that #1 fitting is pretty easy to overlook. Insufficient power could corrupt the data files on the hard drive and/or make for other glitches, so make sure every fitting 1, 2, 3, 4 is plugged in.

If your particular video card has a receptacle for a power cable, hook that up too.

I also would suggest you start off with just your two Kingston memory modules alone. Mix-&-match RAM might not be a problem, but in the interest of minimizing things that can go wrong, start with that setup. Good luck!
