I just moved recently, and the community I'm in has wi-fi available. However, to use the network, it directs you to a website, where you have to login with your email address and register. Once you do and login, you're all set. With Alexa, it initially doesn't even acknowledge this login requirement. When I connect directly to Alexa on my phone (instead of the wi-fi network, directly to Alexa), then it gives me a notification of the 3rd party login requirement, but then when I click the "continue" to supposedly go to the site to log in, it just gives a blank page. I tried reloading it, restarting Alexa, it just doesn't load the page (even though it loaded fine on my phone to connect the phone itself).
From what I've seen online, this is an extremely common issue, but no one seems to have an answer as to how to get around it. One person suggested "forget network" on your phone, then reconnect to the 3rd party site on your phone browser, and THEN go into the Alexa app and try to go to the site through the app with it open. However, even after I forget the network, I guess the network has my phone saved as an approved device, so it doesn't redirect me to the login page, and I don't know the URL myself. Even if I did, Alexa tries to open the page in its own window, it doesn't open my browser, so I don't see this working.
Is there no way around this? Does Alexa just not work with a network that requires a login? I mean how incompetent could they be to not even allow their app to connect to a basic website that my phone opens no problem??? This is really annoying and frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated, as Amazon themselves have proven to be completely worthless for every person that asked them what to do (at least that I've seen).
