Amazing how quickly the conservative narrative on Trump has changed. Was it really just the poor election results? Or do media outlets like FOX really hold that much sway over their viewers?

Ok, I'll need some context here. Not sure what the latest narrative is in Cloud Coocooland, or WTF "Phil"is.

But... I take it the nutters are pissed bc saying he is running for 24 means he's not coming back in..22, 23, or whatever, and the fabled Storm was in fact, just madness and fakery?

..And since it's not happening now, Trump, and Phil, suck and must be burned at the stake?

... Or maybe they should consider it was fking nuts maybe? Wait, no... Definitely burn at the stake.

I don't know if I want to see Trump in Jail or see Trump run again in 24, 28, 32, 36, 40.

But its scary.. he could actually win again!

Judging by our country's history, we don't want to MIS UNDER ESTIMATE again!
I think 2016 tells us that any major party nominee, no matter how shitty, has at least a puncher's chance of winning. I don't think he will be the nominee as I think he's going to get indicted very soon, but if he is the nominee we should definitely avoid the complacency of 2016 where we thought he couldn't win. Clinton would have surely won in my mind if the people who were going to vote for her but decided not to because they were sure she would win had actually voted.

I think conservatives really hate losing.

As far as how much sway media outlets have I think we're about to find out as Murdoch has come out against Trump. As a hilarious example here's the NY Post's cover this morning. Page 26!

They do. Like moths to a flame. I would imagine most FOX views only get their news there. So they are brainwashed with whatever FOX tells them.

You pretty much have it correct. The Qanon influencers have been promising an event in which martial law would be called, the military take control and Trump installed.

Like a doomsday cult, they have been regularly predicting an EBS signal that would start the "storm."

And over and over again, that never happened.

He could win again because Hillary was right. IMO - Odds have greatly decreased because younger people have become hip to his bullshit and have shown they are willing to turn out and vote.

For a party so concerned about crime are they willing to vote for someone under criminal indictment?

Protip: they were not actually concerned about crime.

Seems there are a few people happy he's running..

Democrats are openly rooting for another Trump presidential bid

Back then, he portrayed himself as the ultimate outsider, someone who could bring his street smarts and business savvy to running the country. People wanted something different, and Trump definitely fit the bill.

If I may -- back then nobody knew Trump was a liar and a crook and a theif.....

I'm too lazy to grab a link, but since DJT is again officially a "politician," Facebook's standing policy is to not censor his disinformation. What kind of back asswards policy is this? I'm glad I've never created a FB account because they clearly boosted Trump in 2016, and this particularly policy is inane.

Although your position is defensible, it's not my takeaway at all. Hillary simply was a flawed candidate; not on her qualifications, but because the right just really hates her and were mobilized to go out and vote. She ran a terrible campaign, virtually ignoring the Rust Belt that decided the election. I also believe polls and the 2016 election also prove that many Americans (primarily men) are still uncomfortable about electing a woman as POTUS, even an eminently qualified one. (Also see Elizabeth Warren and Kalama Harris.)

Finally, DJT would never have won if he didn't have the successful TV run on The Apprentice that greatly elevated his public profile over the years.

will DoJ do it's job and indict Trump?
he's no longer going away and fading out like they hoped.
Unlikely IMO. They aren't going to indict him for being sloppy with boxes of documents; they would need an iron-clad obstruction charge to pursue. There was recent reporting that (contrary to the law), DJT honestly believed the kiss-ass letters from Kim Jong-Un and other docs were his personal property. You have to remember DJT has been a grifter and tax cheat virtually his entire life, so to him ignoring the law is the default position.

The announcement that they concluded his intent with the documents was "mementos" or some shit instead of self-enrichment is a big tell. You don't do that and then prosecute for it.

Not likely.

Ex-Mueller prosecutor: DOJ case against Trump “gets stronger and stronger” after latest filing | Salon.com

"Because plaintiff [Trump] can only have received the documents bearing classification markings in his capacity as president, the entire mixed document is a presidential record," the Justice Department wrote towards the end of the filing obtained by The Guardian.

It's funny. Zero republicans are distancing themselves from Trump because he is such a shitty person, but only because they don't think the can help them win enough anymore. The stupid liberal media won't be honest about this though.

You mean one of the guys that had him dead to rights on at least 10 counts of obstruction (+ more) and nothing came of it? Well I'm sure this time it'll really happen.

While a lot of us probably want a catfight between DeSantis and Trump, I have a suspicion that it will end rather quickly and DeSantis will come out on top.

Fox News and a lot of mainstream conservative media have already started their pivot to DeSantis, indictments are likely coming out against Trump, and the GOP establishment have every reason to remove the shit stain that is Trump from their beloved party. I don't think it's unfathomable that a core group of Republicans in Congress decide to sink Trump by letting those indictments fly. It would give them a very convenient reason to dump him. Once he's out of the picture, they can immediately rally around DeSantis and get their base on board. The quicker they do this, the better. More importantly, they likely know that if Trump wins the ticket, the Presidency is likely lost.
