It All Works

I just finished putting together my parts and booted up and everything is working just great. OS installed and everything. All I gotta say is I'm never ever buying pre built again, it was well worth my time building myself. Thanks for all the help, AT.

Yeah, but I find it takes some time to look through the entire BIOS. Sometimes there are things you find that you want to change (like incorrect voltage for RAM). I find it takes me a week to go through all the little bugs before I'm satisfied. But, I'm real slow in doing things so for most people it wouldn't take a week.

Still, it is worth the effort to learn how to build a computer. For about the same amount of money as a pre-built, you can get so much better quality. I nearly crapped when I discovered the HP I bought several years ago only had a 90 watt power supply. And they said if you replaced it, it would void the warranty.

BIOS settings to base optimal should take 10 minutes tops. A real time saver for builds is RyanVM's site and nLite

Yeah, on my current system, I didnt even know each core was running only at 800 HT instead of 1000! Took me months to realize it and I only found out by going to that site! Quick change in bios, and now all is running as it should.

My 1st build was a nightmare and was really hesitant on doing it again, but went ahead anyways with a 2nd build. 2nd one worked like a charm, and yes, it does feel great hitting that power button the first time and everything goes (without randomly shutting down lol).

dyi pc building is a great hobby and very rewarding (and can also cost you a ton of time when you run into some weird ass random conflict/defect/issue)



but its all rewarding in the end.

I had problems installing Vista. The problem was my boot order had the HDD before the DVD Rom. Therefore it tried to read Vista off the HDD. Before it was even installed. But that was solved pretty quickly.
