Right now, I drive a Ford Escape, but I'm considering trading it in for a hybrid vehicle, especially if these gas prices get any higher.

Get yourself an Escape Hybrid

I know somebody here at work that has an order in for one.

Weird seeing the MPG stcker backwards, where you get more MPG City than Hwy.

Still at 30 MPG + it is 10 MPG better than my Dodge with a 6 cylinder 3.0 engine.

I've actually been considering the Escape Hybrid since Its release. The weak specs are what keeps me away though

I'd love to drive a more socially responsible vehicle (My two cars each get about 22 mpg and 24 mpg city respectively) but not if its grogginess will annoy me on a daily basis.

All you'all should consider diesels that have larger needs. I have a truck that gets 22MPG while the gasoline equivalent V-10 gets about half. Also Diesel engines last much much longer. It's not uncommon to hit 500,000 to 1 million miles before overhaul is needed. There some disadvatages, noise, smell and a little more difficult aquisition.

Diesal is the equivalant is prolonging life. You can't beat death.

If you really want to make a difference. Toss the gas guzzler. Move closer to work or start using a bicycle or public transportation. Stop buying sh!t you don't need.

You wanna know what's in my 1 room apartment thats a block and a half away from work/school?

1 ps2, 1 19in TV, 1 computer, 1 desk two chairs and 4 bulbs. I only use 1 bulb at any given time except when I have company over. I have a refridgator and wash my dishes in the autoclave at work (yes I do this).

That may work for you, but it doesn't for many. It's just not that simple. I do agree with you that if people were more energy concious then it would help. I'm glad that I'm not a cook anymore. High fuel costs hurt the lower income workers the most. That and sales tax on necessary items.
