I ordered some laptop ram from them through google checkout and they shipped it a week later. I think it delays things a bit.

in for one. sign up for a buy.com Visa, get $30 off. 85 - 30 +65 = +$10 for the whole thing. Google checkout eliminates free shipping, get $10 off, pay $13 shipping, no thanks.

Two friends report they got the whole deal. I think you missed the link for 7 - 9 day shipping, but I'm glad you worked out the deal your way. One more way to get a good deal.

Bump because this deal is still kicking. My sister and bro in law ordered this printer from buy.com using Google checkout and free shipping, and it arrived in N.Y., yesterday, in well under a week of their order. Assuming three CSR's weren't lying, they should have no problem with the rebate.

Reminder -- Use the rebate form for offer S104. There are other rebate offers on this printer that are restricted to purchases over a minimum price, and other offers that can conflict with getting this one.

HP just sent me a note denying my rebate from a few months ago because it was acquired under "promotional pricing".

I ain't done with these guys yet.

farq it... sounds like too much trouble.
I guess I will just get by with the inconvinience of printing at work (for free though).

Was it for THIS rebate, S104? The terms of this one do not exclude purchases at a promotional price.

Looks like the deal is semi-dead-no more free shipping (was $21+ for me). Price is now slightly less-$81.14 plus the shipping.

Other than the potential problem for actually getting the rebate, this printer is Windows only, probably using GDI printing technology. This makes it a no go for any Mac or Linux users. I checked for this because my current printer is one of these and I want to replace it with one that works with my Macs and Linux boxes. Looks like the $200 network ready color Samsung laser that pops up at Frys occasionally may be the deal for me. (Yeah, $200, but it's color and works with all my systems)

Why did you bother posting that? $200 != $9/10 AR. If it was that big a deal for you, bootcamp/xp would cost you much less than that. You could also run virtual PC. But I guess that's the mac mantra. SPEND MORE! SPEND MORE! SPEND MORE! IT'S MUCH BETTER QUALITY, SO JUST KEEP SPENDING MORE!

Can't say I'm surprised

No more free shipping as the printer technically isn't being sent from Amazon. You're buying the printer through Amazon from Adorama Camera, which charges ~8 for shipping. Only items shipped AND sold (greater than $25 of course) from Amazon qualifies for free standard shipping.

And regarding the rebates - I read the fine print on rebate form S104, and it doesn't state a minimum price or a specific location. It only says it has to be from a authorized HP reseller. According to some HP CSRs (Harvey contacted), Buy.com is one. The rebate should be fine. Just make sure you keep copies of everything and READ AND FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS!!.

If the rebates are denied, I'm pretty sure Harvey and other members of AT will complain and get things straightened out ;-).

Be careful guys.

Resellerratings.com don't tell no lies, and buy.com is singing a really bad tune there.

I've purchased a lot of things from buy.com. Here's a brief list. I know the dates of the purchases are old, but I have received all the packages from buy.com in good condition - nothing damaged or missing. The most recent things I purchased from buy.com through google checkout was a logitech keyboard and 5.1 speaker set.

The weird thing about buy.com is their shipping time. I always get free shipping, but the items come in at random times. The speaker set came in NEXT DAY, and the keyboard took like a week or so. Also, I never received a "You're order is on its way" email for the speakers. I'm not sure how their shipping process is set up.

I had experience with buy.com CSRs through email, and they usually reply within 24-48 hrs if I email them during business times.

In general, buy.com is good, but their shipping is funky. Google finally caught me for making multiple accounts to take advantage of the $10 discount So I probably won't be buying as much from Buy.com unless there is a really good deal (without the $10 GCO discount).

edit - I bought a video card (geforce 7300 LE) for $20 after rebate directly from buy.com (no gco) on the 9/10. According to UPS tracking #, I'll get it on the 9/13 - tomorrow! but

What happens when they do? Do they warn you with an email message?

Haha yeah.

Hello Jimmy,

It appears that you have created multiple accounts in order to take
advantage of our current promotion. However, creating accounts in this
manner is not allowed under the terms of this promotion.

As a result, we have suspended your additional accounts and their
associated transactions. You may continue to make purchases with your
original Google Checkout account at this time.

The promotion terms were developed to ensure a positive user experience
for everyone. If your account use continues not to comply with these
terms, you may not be eligible to make purchases through Google Checkout
in the future.

Sincerely,

Dale
The Google Checkout Team

In the beginning, you just had to use google checkout to get $10 off at buy.com, but I guess they were losing money or something, so they changed it to only new members. Oh well. I shouldn't be spending money anyways.

edit - Maybe it was that one day I went through all my google checkout accounts and deleted the credit card #'s as I didn't feel safe having my # saved on so many accounts.

I just installed it. Came with a new cartridge, no USB cable. Mucho faster than my deskjet.

I run winXP. I had to use the HP CD to do the install.
