Moving from a really scary person with nil actual ability to get anything done in congress to someone with more or less equally nasty views but some actual political skill? Not really an obvious step up.
Yes but rejection or bad press and even people not liking him will roll off of Pence while he continues to politic. Trump is a spiteful, vengeful child. There is little doubt it's worse to keep him in place. Pence will still have to work with the spectrum of politicians to get anything passed. Dumping Trump changes nothing about extreme conservatives vs. moderate conservatives... but Pence would possibly have an easier time of uniting them and that is scary as well. I have concluded Pence would be better but only by the narrowest of margins.

Suspect I might agree if I was American and so directly offended by the idea of the country being led by a walking joke.

The total retreat from any idea of rational, evidence led politics is of course pretty despair inducing. Especially so given the vast contrast with Obama.

Donald Trump isn't going anywhere. He still has a huge following of sympathetic "I don't support racism, I don't see color (...but I really do)" type folk who will defend anything he does.

I watched the Fox News clip earlier where the white host starts crying because someone disagreed with her interpretation of the "Good people on both sides (I'm paraphrasing)" thing. She felt like she was being attacked because she was defending Trump and immediately starts talking about how she's not racist and see's everyone the same. Funnily enough, her fellow host, who is a black woman, was the one that had to comfort her telling her that a lot of tears are being shed all over the country and that we should be having these talks about race relations.

I honestly have no clue where this Presidency is going, I don't really know what the history books say about this. We went from Obama, to this guy and I honestly feel...like, no BS, that race relations actually HAVE gotten worse. Not that crap people were saying when Obama was in office...but like for real worse. The amount of people who became comfortable enough to come out of the closet as Trump rose to power is amazing to me. Ive been seeing folks with Confederate flag decals on their car, actual Confederate flags on the car (whilst driving a Toyota pickup. lol), and there is one person in my mom's neighborhood with a Confederate flag on a pole in their front yard.

I live maybe 2 hours from Charlottesville so, I'm a bit detached from what is happening there. That probably wont be happening up here any time soon, I hope.

It is time. Donald Trump must resign.

Well, a person I know said this will happen (and because Republicans will make it happen by proverbially twisting his arm with threats to reveal facts he doesn't want known), but that it won't happen until after the midterms.

My husband while not psychic has predicted Trump will resign by the end of the year. I want to believe him. If it comes true we will be buying some serious amount of lottery tickets.

I will do one better, two months. I want to say one month cause I feel that might be possible but 2 months I would assess an above 50% chance to. He is done, everybody is gone including his base, the man has picked fights with ALL the wrong people and Mueller is coming up... That guy is looking for "the art of the deal" to get out of that seat as we speak.

I very much hope you are correct! I still get to buy lottery tickets, right?

I just feel dejected most days because I want it to have already happened. I know the man does his best to insulate himself from the realities of exactly how deeply loathed he is but he knows. He also can't hide (and he is slowly becoming aware of it) from what I believe with every fibre of my being will be revealed and pursued relentlessly of his consistently corrupt, treasonous and illegal existence. I want the effer to burn (figuratively speaking)!

At this point I think Pence would be a huge step up.

As far as acting "presidential" I would agree. However on some level I am happy that Trump's incompetence in the job is also blocking the GOP from doing fuck all to enact their legislative agenda. With Pence in office I have no doubt the legislative wheels would start to turn much faster.

Don't worry he will be in office at least 8 years. You can bet on that. Sure he has had some missteps but the hysterical left can do nothing to stop him.
Care to put your membership here on the line with that bet, braveheart? I can give you some action with a counter.

I doubt it. Did you not know the man is a narcissist? He is the center of attention, just where he loves to be. He is happier than a pig in shit.

True enough and I will make my husband pay if he's wrong... It'll feel like he won a different horrifying kind of lottery.

Well I don't think he will quit. Whether he will be removed really depends on the Republicans and Trump's poll numbers. He is probably untouchable at 40%, approval but if it drops to 20% he is toast. For that to happen he may need to ax murder a crippled kid on the White House lawn.

Its time for a new poll, when will the Trump administration burn AND crash..I give it two months from now.. it may be tomorrow.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...istration-president-latest-news-a7907486.html

"The top Republican in the Senate is said to be privately questioning whether Donald Trump can “salvage” his administration and has reportedly not spoken to the President for weeks."

- That means that the most hardcore of hardcore rats is about to abandon ship.

I believe he will finish his term. He apparently can do absolutely anything without affecting his poll numbers. I also predicted with 100% certainty that he would never become President and look how well that turned out.

To me he seems like Trump is the Teflon Don but that may be wrong. His steady numbers might be more reflective of the Republican base. Deep down they apparently have a fetish for inarticulate illiterate incompetent yokels. Trump proves that Palin was not a fluke. This is what they want..... the dumbest President in American history. And from what I've read, they are still happy with their decision.

Donald Trump won't resign... And it’s unlikely Trump will be impeached or thrown out of office on grounds of mental impairment. At least not in the foreseeable future.

There’s another way Trump can be effectively removed. He can be made irrelevant. Cut off and somewhat contained.

It’s already starting to happen...

He no longer has a working majority in the Senate because several Senate Republicans have decided the hell with him. Three Republican Senators voted against repealing the Affordable Care Act, dooming his effort. Almost all voted to restrict his authority over Russian sanctions. They’re also pushing forward with their own inquiry into Trump’s Russian connections. Republican senators Thom Tillis and Lindsay Graham have even joined Democrats in introducing legislation to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being fired.

Republicans in the House won’t fund his wall.

Many refuse to increase the national debt in order to pay for his promised tax cuts.

After Charlottesville, many more are willing to criticize him publicly. Last week Tennessee’s Bob Corker, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, even questioned Trump’s “stability” and “competence,” saying Trump hasn’t shown he understands “the character of this nation” and that without that understanding, “Our nation is going to go through great peril.” There are reports that GOP leaders are “personally wrestling with the trade-offs of making a cleaner separation with the president.”

Republican patrons in big business are deserting Trump in droves. Last week, CEOs bolted his advisory councils. Many issued sharp rebukes of Trump. Even James Murdoch, Murdoch wrote “what we watched last week in Charlottesville and the reaction to it by the president of the United States concern all of us as Americans and free people,” and pledged 1 million to the Anti-Defamation League.

America as a whole is abandoning him. Trump’s approval hit an all-time low of 34 percent last week.

Trump will continue to rant and fume. He’ll insult. He’ll stoke racial tensions. But, hopefully, he won’t be able to exercise much presidential power from here on. He’s being ostracized like a obnoxious adolescent who’s been grounded.

When the media stop reporting his tweets, his isolation and irrelevance will be complete.
