I have a Netgear Nighthawk X4 wireless router; simple questions here:

Is this a gaming-grade wireless router? Will I be able to play games and get full speed on a consumer internet connection:

Speed test says:

228.9
Mbps download
10.6
Mbps upload

If yes, what wireless adapters can I install onto my 2 desktop PC's either via PCI port or via USB that will provide full speed capabilities?

If no, what wireless router, and what wireless adapters should I purchase?

Thank you!

If you actual "Speed" at the output of the Modem is 228/10 and no other users share with you the Network, using Netgear Nighthawk X4 with macthing wireless card woulld provide the Speed. If the Wireless card is working in cose distance and no big physical barriers.

However, beside Speed there is also variables like Stability of the signal and changing Latency that are affecting Wireless.

I.e. No matter what you do with Wireless, a Wire connection would provide better gaming experience.

Yes it is. Most reasonably fast Wi-Fi routers have much more bandwidth than typical home internet connections, and the latency is seldom higher enough (versus wired) to be noticeable. It's just a question of making sure the signal is strong enough where your PCs are... if they're in the same room as the router, that's easy; if they're on the opposite end of a house, it might be tricky.

You'd want at least an 802.11ac (also known as Wi-Fi 5) adapter for the computers. If you want a bit of futureproofing, 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6 and 6E) support is nice to have. ASUS and TP-Link may be your best bets if you have a free PCIe slot, but many brands (like Netgear and Linksys) have 802.11ac USB adapters.

Pretty much this. Wired is always better provided you can get a wire to the machine.
Wired connections always work and are fast. Wireless connections tend to have occasional disconnects and/or occasional slow speed just something to deal with.
If it is difficult getting a wire to the machine then wireless is fine just he aware there will be occasional problems.
USB wifi adapters are perfectly fine, keep a spare one handy because all adapters have a tendency to fail at the worst possible time.
Don’t pay extra for gaming gear that stuff is typically regular off the shelf gear with LED lighting however if you like it go for it.
