Those fuckers are everywhere around here. My parents have a bunch in their front yard. Horrible trees. Not only do they smell, but once they get like 15-20 years old they start to fall apart. Every time there is a storm limbs come off the ones in my parents yard.

I freaking hate the smell of Bradford pear trees in the spring, fortunately there are none near me. However we do have this huge shrub thing (I'm horrible at identifying plants) that smells almost as bad. I've often considered cutting it down but don't know what I'd do with it (it's a good 40 feet by 15 feet and a pretty good privacy fence)

I made the mistake of planting two Aristocrat flowering pears in my backyard. They had this sickly sweet and musty odor when blooming (just like a Bradford) and then the tiny pears dropped on the lawn in the late summer making a huge mess. The new owners took them out. Learned my lesson about flowering trees.

Shit tree. Popular with housing developers. We had a bunch in our yard in Charlotte. They grow very fast but aren't very hardy - after every strong windstorm a branch or two would fall off somewhere in our neighborhood.
