This is basically stating the obvious such as Jean Claude Van Damme's acting is stiffer than a fratboy in a nudie bar with a fist full of fifties. Due to the economic slowdown, there are major cuts everywhere. Our office has grown exponentially in the last year and the volume of data passing through has grown as well. Our little 20/40GB DAT backup is no longer sufficient to handle the load. I put in a request for a few bucks (actually it was $5,000 but who's counting?) to upgrade to a nice 40/80GB unit. So i came up with a nice 1 page proposal with cost/benefit analysis, numbers on long term total cost of ownership, opportunity cost, and a plan to reuse the old tape unit in another server. So what do I get back? A one line email with the following:
"Tell your people to save less data."
Uhhhh.... suuuuuure. Hey Karen, you know that 250 line spreadsheet? I'm afraid you'll have to redo it everyday because accounting says were using the server too much.
