I didn't realize that. For some reason I had it figured that the updates would be sitting there waiting for the clock to turn to the release date and then they would be available.
I'm not sure where you are getting the idea that publishing to WU is not organized...?Originally posted by: KeypoX

yeah i would agree, i wouldnt think something like this would be pushed back to the last minute. I would think it would be more organized then say ..."Hey Jim, did you enable the Vista Service pack download yet?" "Ah crap Dave I forgot, I guess I will do it after lunch"

Downloading the standalone now, I'm at work so it should be done by the time I'm home. I would rather have the standalone anyways.

Just as a reminder to folks.... SP1 is sort of a Vista reset. Superfetch and indexing get reset as a result of installing SP1. So, expect Vista to be a little slower than usual for the first day or two until it re-learns and re-tunes your PC.
Yes, but not in the same way as you could with XP and earlier. You have to make a custom image file using the latest WAIK by installing Vista RTM, installing SP1, sysprep, postreflect and VSP1cln.Originally posted by: Schadenfroh
Is it possible to slipstream the standalone?
Update: looks like you can

It's a lengthy process that is designed to be used in large scale deployments using MDT/WDS/SCCM.
