Because they have this idea that they are part of something larger, a battle against the government who would have them live in pods and work for dear leader with no individuality.

Its fun to think you are in the middle of some huge struggle and that somehow your actions and your ability to fight on a forum somehow puts that in your control.

Its what little people do. And very, very smart evil men take advantage of them everyday.

What the hell are you talking about?

This lady exercised her basic human right to self defense and killed a man attacking her and her child. End of story.

The irony is so thick here I can barely breathe.

Please point that out? I dont play up to wedge issues.

Im talking about people thinking that gun control is 2 steps away from putting them in gayafication camps and removing all guns from society.

Anti-gay? Did you mean misogynistic?

That too.

Worked for people like Hitler.

1 - outlaw private ownership of firearms

2 - ship people off to prison camps

In the US during World War II, Japanese-Americans were sent to prison camps. The law that allowed those people to be held without due process was even upheld by the US supreme court.

So yes, gun control and imprisoning people without due process worked for Hitler and Franklin Roosevelt.

Who says it can not happen again?

We are not talking about ancient history here, Japanese-Americans that were sent, and even born in those prison camps are still alive today.

I think Mommy is still a little out on a limb legally.

Usually the Mommy has a right to shoot to kill when the intruder threatens here with a knife, but technically until the intruder sees her gun, and is given time to retreat instead of still coming at her, Mommy may have no legal right to use deadly force.

Of course it will depend on the State and circumstances. But the local police are not the deciders, its the local DA's office in her county of residence. And or the DA who has venue here.

I'll reserve judgment here until better facts come in.

Of course the other giant question is, after 21 glacial minutes on the phone with 911, why the local cops can't get a police officer to her house is almost a crime in itself.

How could it be both?

well easily.

In your mind the word pansy was referring to girly being negative.

In my mind I see it as a derogatory term for gay.

In both cases its derogatory.

So regardless of how you see it it is what it is.

NINJA EDIT

just the pound the point home from urban dictionary

What is the legal basis for this reasoning?

Moot point. The police have no legal obligation to protect.

If you live in a rural area 21 minutes could be a good response time.

She must live in a shitty neighborhood.

My girlfriends sister called the police when she was 15 thinking someone was trying to break in. 5 cop cars were there in 2 minutes with air support.

Yeah, she probably should have had him sign a form stating that he did in fact see the gun. For good measure they should probably have gotten it notarized as well. Then she could have shot him.

/facepalm

I dont guess you have ever stepped foot off concrete, much less lived in a rural area?

Very true my friend.

I remember one time when I was 15 I went to a cabin in west Virginia. I had culture shock the entire time.

When first going there we stopped in a small "town" to meet the guy who owned the cabin. He was missing a eye from my excellent compatriot hunting. I was told many my excellent compatriot hunters are missing eyes because they run thru the forest at night following the dogs and they get poked out. lol.

I was also on the phone by the food mart and I saw a 12 year old girl who looked like a bear spitting dip on the ground.

When we left for the cabin we rode with the one eyed man and all of a sudden we veered off the road and drove down a creek! We took the creek for a mile or so to the cabin.

The only awesome thing was the cabin has running water with spring water. Amazing but I would never go back.

actually a thought just occurred to me. Maybe we are all so divided on the issue of gun control because of the difference in response times from the police?

To me there is no point to owning a gun as the police are right there always. But you other people dont have that luxury.

hence why you shoot for the kill, no man no problem
LOL Used to be a Tennessee judge nicknamed the Tellico Bulldog. When he was younger and in private practice he defended a man who shot an intruder and was being sued by the intruder. He asked the defendant if you had killed the man. "Oh no sir, I just shot him in the leg!" "Well," the lawyer said, " you should've shot straighter, because he's going to be a powerful witness against you."

This man needed killing.

Tennessee my excellent compatriot hunters must be smarter, because I've never known one to lose an eye.

Well where I live it's a 15 minute drive to get there if you drive fast, and I'd have to wait for a while longer because I'm outside the city limits so I'm not even sure who would answer my call if I had a mortal emergency. But even if it's just 2 minutes why would I put the people I care about and my safety in a stranger's hands?
