Went to reheat something in the microwave, and upon closing the door it turned on. Check the display which still just showed the time, no symbols on for the oven running, but the interior light was on and the carousel was turning. Opened the door and reshut it and had same result. Entered a time and hit start and the over turned on.

After it was done the first time I shut the door had motion again, opened and shut again and it stayed off. Can't say I've seen something like this before.

I saw this behavior a few years ago. If you don't close the microwave door all the way and sort of leave it at about 90% closed, but not latched, the light and carousel turn on. Haven't tried it on out current microwave.

Except in this case it was shut and latched as I was able to enter then press start which turned the microwave portion on.

I have actually seen this happen and typically it is due to one of the little door switches starting to malfunction. I have had one of the door switches malfunction multiple times on mine. Slamming the door shut on a microwave can cause these suckers to go bad quickly.

I had an old non-digital display microwave that had one bad door switch. I simply removed the switch, twisted the wires together and it worked. Mine wasn't doing weird things though. It just wouldn't work unless you put the weight of the microwave door onto an object. I don't recommend bypassing switches if you have kids around.

Edit: I believe they were micro switches. I believe radio shack carried them at the time.

It's just fascinating that people blindly allow technology to take over their lives. It's like the studies done on the TV. Do we still have the so called couch potato? Now everyone is either streaming on a tablet or though a HTPC or in front of a computer surfing the Internet.

I see tons of people drive and have that damn smartphone in their hand. I go to a restaurant and they are not even eating! Their face is in the smartphone. I would bet, just bet that if Apple said you can have a smartphone implanted in your brain people would do it. Skynet wouldn't even have to lauanch nukes. Just kill the host with a virus that effects the body. We are getting closer. Did you get a drone for Christmas too? LOL

Next phase is the microwave I had at work. It's supposed to turn off when you open the door. This one didn't. I opened the door and went to grab my food and it was still running.

First they lure you with convenience, then they try and kill you.

I always thought that if you could mount a modified microwave on a hand truck with an external switch that allows you to turn on the microwave without a door you could make some convincing crop circles. Sprinkle a little low grade uranium and presto!

Lol, we had one of those last summer. Someone opened the door but the magnetron kept on going. Ended up sitting on the counter for about a week with the cord cut to keep anyone from using before it got hauled away.

I do spend the majority of my time in front of my pc,its my all-in-one entertainment as i don't even need cable.

Far as smartphones they are nice toys but honestly i'm not that bad off,i still use a very basic non flip $30 cell phone cause a phone for me is a simple tool for calls.I can't even bother texting much unless its a picture.Wifes used the smartphones a bit more then goes back to the basic phone and sits on her laptop lol.

I may sound like a old fart,i'm only 27.:awe:
