(Donning flame-proof suit) Yep, it's pretty clear that this is intended as a gift after you've bought something "A ONE-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION WITH YOUR PURCHASE". It's not like you're going through a survey (like some of the other mag offers), or a freebie being given away for those who've shown interest for something else, or even a promotional widget.

I got a bill from EGM for 19.97 for one year subscription due on 1-4-04. Writing Cancel on it and sending it back. I dont think they are honoring the Free year sub.
