Using the Viper GTS color profile now and running at the 1920x1200 native resolution.

Anybody notice that dvd movies are not looking very sharp? Almost..jagged and blurry? Everything on my desktop looks sharp but when I pop in a family guy dvd it just screams bad for me.

Any ideas if this is just the case w/ LCD's or is there something wrong? Is it DVD sources just aren't good on this type of monitor? I tried looking at a high quality source (HD) and it looks good, but anything else below HD looks horrible.

I just bought this thing. Damn...I don't think I realized what I've gotten myself into now! This thing is huge! I used to have a 17" CRT LOL. Anyway...the other thing I noticed besides how big it is, is how crappy the stand is. My table is not too sturdy, and if I bump the table the monitor wobbles. Oh well.

Also...can others who have bought it verify. I somehow feel like I got someone's return. For one thing, the monitor itself wasn't wrapped. The plastic sheets were just stuffed in the box. Also there seems to be some sort of scratches on the screen...though not deep scratches...kinda like dirt streaks or something.

As for the panel. Its pretty bright. I'll still have to calibrate it some what. So far I see no dead pixels (knock on wood) and no weird humming. HOWEVER, the bottom of the screen looks a little pincushioned UP. For example, the Windows XP task bar doesn't look straight...its ovaled up a bit...anyone else have this?

Hmmm that's pretty much it. I dunno if I should exchange this or not...since the drive is a bit far. Anyway, hope to hear some comments!

Almost ordered one of these online two weeks ago. Had it in my cart with a $30 off coupon, but decided to hold off. By Saturday I'd decided I wanted one, but they were off the website. Took my coupon to the local OM, grabbed one, then went to the register only to have the snotty cashier say I couldn't use the coupon with it. "It's already $100 off" Left it on the counter, took my coupon, and walked out. This morning it was back on the website, so I tried the coupon and it works just fine. Wasn't going to let them get any money for me, but it's too good a deal to pass. I also have the satisfaction that they'll be spending time and money to deliver it to me.

It is a good panel. I had to exchange the first one I got after 6 days of use - a black line appeared in the middle of the screen. Also I don't know if anything changed in alst 3 years, but 3 years ago when I wanted to send a notherboard back for warranty repair SOYO wanted me to pay for shipping and to include a check for shipping from SOYO back to me. I'd say Max Assurance is definitely worth 29.99.

Just picked up two myself as I missed it last time. Brand new as they were properly wrapped. That's the one thing I was worried about. What if I got the ones that were returned the last time?

So far so good. No dead or stuck pixels, no humming or buzzing sound and both DVIs work. Going to give both some work over the next 7 days and hopefully no problems..

In for 1. The CSR was nice and tried to apply the promo code, but their ordering system rejected it.

I have both the Acer AL2423W and the 22in Acer AL2216W.

The 24 is an 8 bit panel as said above, and is in another league compared to the 22in, which is a crappy 6-bit panel. Major viewing angle issues and back light bleeding, but I use it in portrait mode as my 2nd monitor, and it's fine for that.

$260-290 for this LCD is a VERY good deal. I'm shocked and am tempted to get it and sell my 22in...

I ordered this a few weeks ago and it is a steal for $299. Colors are much brighter and better viewing angles vs my Acer 22".

All the Officemax near me are sold out, and I finally got someone who would take the coupon, and for some reason, they won't ship it from a store to me thats more than 30 miles away! Argh!

Would someone who has this monitor be able to tell me what the depth is on this? The Soyo site says 7.46" but I'm guessing the stand sticks out a bit beyond the front of the screen.

I'm curious how a 360/PS3 works on this with an HDMI->DVI adapter. My laptop only has VGA out, so it'd be great if I could hook them up to it later.

Welcome to the world of non-HD-resolution-stuff on an HD LCD. Try watching broadcast television on an HDTV and you'll get the same results - extremely crappy picture. I recommend using nVidia/ATI's edge-smoothing and noise-reduction features when watching non-HD media content; it makes a big difference on LCD's.

Could this be the same panel as those in the FP241W-series? Can someone check the scaling features of this thing? If this monitor can do 1:1 then I'm buying it.

Picked up the last one at my OM this afternoon. Set it up when I got home. At first the resolution was great but then after a while it started tearing most of the time. Tried both DVI and VGA connections to two different PCs and tried manual and auto adjust (in VGA) but could not resolve the problem. Anyone have any ideas before I return it?

Can you be more specific about this "tearing" effect?

Definitely no HDCP, & from what I saw before my upscaling DVD player shut me down (due to the lack of HDCP) it does NOT do 1:1 scaling correctly. 1080P filled the screen.

Still fantastic for the money, but it's really only good as a PC monitor.

I just picked one up in store from San Dimas in the Los Angeles area. I didn't get the $30 off but I'm happy with the purchase for $300 + tax. The first one I got had a black line that ran all the way across the screen horizontally near the top.

I took it back and got a replacement which i checked in the store. No black line this time, and no dead pixels. The monitor looks great so far.

It's hard to explain. Here are some pics.

Good (blurriness is from my picture taking - monitor was crisp)
