Newegg has this nice little remote on sale again. It only controls four devices and is best suited for a bedroom setup where you are just watching TV. Been using mine (a refurb) for over a year now to control my TV, sat box, BD player, and Roku, all with no problems. This comes from a 3rd party through NE, but carries a 1-yr. warranty.

Note: you can sign up for a Shoprunner 30-day trial and get free shipping from NE and many other vendors.

Slick remotes... not as nice as my Harmony 880, but very handy for a bedroom remote, where you have a cable box, TV and BD-Player to run. I have three of these.

Anyone happen to know how well this would work on a newer SmartTV? My LG has one of those weird cursor-type remotes.

I don't see any reason it wouldn't. The neat thing about these is they share the entire library of remote codes available to the "premium" Harmony remotes.

True. Logitech's library of devices is vast, and if you have a name-brand device, you will almost certainly find it listed. Heck, my cheapo Dynex TV was in it, but I made sure of this before I bought the remote.

i use the 300 as my main remote right now. i only have 3 devices, and i like that it has no lcd screen. screens kill battery life. it would have to have a lithium battery and cradle for me to accept a screen, but at that point its a $150 remote and thats just not right either.

one thing i dont understand is why the software is crippled. you cant do nearly as much with the 300 as you can say the 680 or better harmonys. its just a software thing too, its like they crippled it to justify the lower cost. sucks.

Yes, it is the low end, but for the room I need it in, it does everything necessary. Oddly enough, broke out my 650 that I bought on sale a year ago and never programmed. Once I got it controlling my LR devices, I figure "Good! Now I can use it, too." Turns out to be more of a hassle than the 300i. Yes, you get one-button activities that power on multiple devices, but then to control each one you have do some pretty stupid button pushing. I doubt it will get much use; it's almost easier to use the dedicated remotes for each device, unless I'm missing something. Anyhoo, hope those of you who got in on this deal enjoy it.

BTW, that "RUNNER" code did get me a free year of Shoprunner. Thanks!

the activities buttons are always useless imo for the simple fact that they cannot tell what devices are on or off, or what state they are in.

i just went on a service call for a lady with a 300 harmony. she couldnt figure out why geek squad set her up with a fancy remote that doesnt work. when she showed me that she was using the activity button, i stopped her cold. told her that is why some devices are off while others are on. that button just causes problems.

i showed her how to use the devices buttons, and she was thrilled. if you treat the 300 like 4 remotes in one you get great results. just push what device you want, then use the remote normally.

thing is, i REALLY want to set my volume for my tv to the stereo volume. you can do that in other harmony remotes. not the 300. why? software wont let you. STUPID!!! one thing i do really like about the 300 though, its a great size, nice and slim but not too much so, and its tough as nails. i beat the crap out of mine, and it never faults. very well built, and the buttons feel good too.

Jeez...can't find much info on this remote? I don't need it to do a lot...just have TV, cable box, WD TV and AVR...for nirmal TV viewing just want to power on everything and control volume thru AVR...

Will this remote do that?

Yes.

As I said above, this remote gets all the codes from the same library as the high-end Harmony line of remotes. It can also learn functions, too.

I use them in three rooms, with HDTVs, Samsung Blu-ray players, and cable boxes. They should work fine for WDTV (better than the regular remote), though I've sold off all my WDTV boxes in favor of the Samsung players (better options and streaming plus the optical drive) - Logitech remotes "know" WDTV box remote codes.

Question on this remote: I don't need activities, but I need programmable buttons. Can I, for example, program my DVD player and then reassign the volume buttons to control my TV? I can teach it the codes, so I don't need it to pull from the database.

I'd imagine so. I have a different Logitech Harmony that's pretty old and you basically tell it exactly what you want to do. When programming "watch tv" it'll ask what tv input, if you use a receiver to do the volume or the tv, if the receiver then what input on that receiver, and so on. If you can dream up a sequence, it'll run it.

I think it still uses the database, but basically there's a setting where you tell the remote to always have the volume buttons control the TV regardless of what mode the remote is in, and you're all good. I've done that both with a TV and with a soundbar, and haven't have any problems (other than remembering where to find that setting, which off the top of my head, I couldn't tell you).

What if I don't program the TV into the remote? Would I be able to teach the volume commands to the remote under a certain device?

Edit: I just picked up three of them, so we'll find out soon enough.

Got my and programmed it yesterday, working great. Have it running a Sony TV, an Onkyo receiver, FIOS set-top-box, and my HTPC.

Now comes the hassle of whether or not to teach my wife how to use it or let her struggle with various remotes

That would be nice for the bedroom. One question, though. I already have a Harmony One for the living room. Would it be possible to use this remote with my same account, or would I have to set up a second account on another computer in order to program this remote without having to remove my One.

Curiosity, does this remote have the lag that the Harmony One has? I love my Harmony One, but the damn thing drives me nuts a lot of times because of that stupid lag when used for HTPC. The controller in the remote isn't able to process the button presses fast enough and it will jump ahead or pause inbetween presses..it's so damn annoying.

This might be a good simple HTPC remote for the kids in other rooms of the house.

Did you try tweaking the delay timing in the software? There's some settings that you can tweak that will help with the lag:
