yeah, i am getting the buzz when i turn mine on too...is this normal? how about those who own a pair check and reply.

also, i notice that after i leave these on for a while, static starts coming out of it when it's not being played...quite irritating.

anyways the price is back up to $180 on the website and it now shows as out of stock.

Although there are small holes underneath where the bal and vol control would be, it is WAAAYYYYY better looking without it. Awesome speakers.
did the sticky stuff holding the label down come off with it? Mine is stuck on there, I can't get it off. Tried rubbin alcohol and double sided tape/lint remove but there's still some on there

Mine came off absolutely clean with not a speck of residue. I guess I was lucky.

My household tip of the day: to get sticky residue off plastic you can use wood furniture polish. A couple drops on a paper towel should be plenty. Don't have furniture polish? Then try a pencil eraser. Good luck!

The website shows "delivery only" at $180, but i've seen them in store as recent as 2 days ago in Tacoma. They are NOT on the shelves, and NO price tags. (I didn't have them scan it.)

Also, they had the Juniors... model XJR tagged at $29.99, i think... the ones "normally" at $80 or $90. The only one they had in Tacoma, afaik, was the display. The markdown to 29.99 was a real printed tag, so I bet the 29.99 is national, but YMMV.
I bought the Juniors for a friend months back when the XS's first showed up... and they rang up at $14.99.

The XJR's pale in comparison to the XS's, yet are a warm deal w/no rebates at $30. If they still ring up at $14.99, I'd call it hot.

To others: These speakers were a steal at $30 a couple of months ago, and they are still a steal at $50...!

IMHO, they blow the doors off any Logitech speakers in terms of sound quality. Yes, even the 560s. No 5.1, but 5.1 just isn't important to a lot of us (myself included) when listening at the the PC. If you have to have 5.1, you need to look elsewhere. But if your main criteria are sound quality and price, look no further.

Kwad

i just bought these suckers and i dont see how people can say they blow the doors off the logitechs. comparable yes, blows the doors no. better price to performance ratio yes if you bought 2 evs for 4.1 setup. otherwise sound wise i would say they are comparable

Heh last time I think on FW I got into this sort of arguement with people and it was just pointless...there are just going to be people insisting that it blows the doors off of Yamahas, Klipschs, Logitech's, Cambridge/Creatives, etc. Even if you point out something like a 7.1 set of Creative 550Watt speakers they'll tell you that these sound better as long as you don't care about those other 5 channels of sound.
So this time I have decided that everybody can believe what they want...I guess that's the same principle behind respecting people's religions, no matter how inane their beliefs may seem to you, you should just let them have those beliefs. After all, maybe some of your beliefs are just as ridiculous to them.

And so, let's not argue about the sound reproduction of these. I think a large part of the flaws were not even really sound related...more of a speaker wire/magnetic shielding/reliability issue. This of course doesn't affect everybody the same(particularly magnetic sheilding...since some monitors are less prone to being affected and some are very sensitive. And some people run LCDs which just shrug it off) so although person A might be saying "what are you talking about? These speakers don't affect my monitor at all!" person B might be saying "it makes my monitor turn blue even if I move it 20 feet away, HELP!"

But, if you have no problems and don't need about any more speaker channels this is a good deal for a set of good sounding speakers. I think this statement is probably about as generic as possible =P

I got some. Thanks for the posting. i wanted these for a year and they were just too much $. They do have something most computer speakers that i've seen don't have, midrange. they have a lot of presence too and I really like them. The satallites do a lot more than just put out a little bit of weenie treble, that's why I dig them.

I went today in Roseville, MN and they didn't have the XS's.. only the XJS for 39.99. I passed on them, might try a different CompUSA tomorrow.

I just picked up a set of these today. (Walked about a mile carrying that huge box up the hills of San Francisco -- ouch). Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but I was wondering what would be involved in doing a surround sound setup using 2 or 3 sets of these speakers. Do you think I could use a receiver box to control volume on all 3 simultaneously? And would that allow for legitimate surround sound reproduction? (Proper channels activating on que, like say in a movie or video game).

(Added) I just tried them out... Pretty sweet sound! No monitor or TV distortion at all either. (Some heapy cheapy Gamers Edge 2.1 mini cubes turn the TV purple, but these mega EV boxes are rock solid.) But I must say I knew these were big, but that subwoofer is just plain ludicrous! I could serve christmas dinner on top of that thing! I don't think I have room for 2 more of those in my apartment! Hehe.

It's back, Telex 2.1 EVSonic XS speaker, $49.99 in CompUsa

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to scan your receipt for me because my speakers blew out. If you would then I would be very very grateful. A friend bought these for me and he didn't bother to save the receipt. I'm trying to send it back to the manufacturer but I need proof of purchase.

If you can then please e-mail me at trungvu at stanford.edu

Thanks!

Trung
