I've been great the last few years. It's nice to see some familiar faces -- with insane post counts.
Funny thing happened a few years ago: My hobby -- computers, networking, trouble-shooting, AV -- became a large part of my job, which certainly boosted my job satisfaction and acumen, but also diminished what was once an obsessive desire to tear out motherboards, cut holes in computer cases, trace pencil over contacts, overclock Celerons (ahh, the 300A) and just generally tinker. Also, those friends and relatives with computer questions and ailing computers become a lot less interesting.
However, I was recently struck with a renewed desire to open up my dusty HTPC and computer cases and pull out those nForce2 motherboards and ailing Athlons. Where better to come for my education than Anandtech? And, I just couldn't resist dropping by here.
It's nice to see that, though the site has evolved, it still feels pretty much the same as it did when I started coming back in the late 90s. Anand still writes articles, there's still great info and there's still a helpful and supportive community. I certainly lurked a lot back in the day, but I posted my fair share and tried to help folks when I could. If I recall correctly, I lost a fair amount of my post count in the great server wipe of ~ 1999.
In any event, it's good to be back and I think I may stay awhile.
