You ask a lot of questions. Would you like me to hold your hand while you order it?

What is completely different about it? It's the same card and the BB deal is still ongoing. Are you saying that if he had searched and read the other thread he still would have posted this one?

for one thing, all bestbuys in LA are sold out

This company has indeed been around for a long time. They have been more "industrial" oriented rather than towards end-users. They used to be a well known place for hard-to-find items. (I used to get mail-order catalogs from them back in the late 80's)

As far as "no comments since 2001", if today is any indication, their customers are probably still waiting for pages to change! That site is VERY sloooow!

Bob, as people have mentioned, like 99% of Best Buys have been out of the 9500 pros and 9700 anythings for weeks. So pipe down, I'm glad he posted this.

You don't have to be such a dickhead to him. Why have a forum for hot-deals if a user can't ask a question. If you don't like what he's asking, ignore him. Who cares if he asks lots of questions, he doesn't wanna be screwed over by this transaction. Part of the 'getting the hottest deal' includes making sure you get what you want and not get screwed over by a company. Basically, would you please, shut your mouth and stop thread-crapping.

yeh.

fiasko.

I haven't seen this card for any cheaper than 195.00 anywhere.
That's like me standing facing you with my eyes shut and saying "I can't see you anywhere". It's almost like the last 3 million years of human evolution hasn't happened.

Bob Snob - what is your frigging problem dude? If we were to ban all the posts that mention the same product but from different vendors over 90% of the posts here would be gone. You just can't get the grasp of the hot deal, do you? Place A has the product advertised for less then Place B, hence the hot deal. Get it?

Maybe you can volunteer to take orders from guys whose local BB is OOS on that card, since the ones around you seem to have shelves full of them.

Put me down for two. BobSnob can ship first and I'll paypal the money afterwards. I spent hours calling around (and waiting on hold) trying to locate one at Best Buy.

Look here.

Um that's a completely different deal. Not everyone can find this card at bestbuy.
Um, it's the same card only cheaper, posted in this very forum only 2 days ago. Duh!

I bet you guys think your the first person to discover electricity every time you turn the light on.

And I bet you think you're the first person to be a petty jerk everytime you bother someone about a repost.

so how is it a better deal if i cant get the card from best buy?

(i mean sure, i could drive around the united states going to every best buy and aksing for the card....but by the time i find one...i dont think it was worth the hassle to even get one in the first place)
I believe high-end video cards are a complete waste of money BUT if I wanted one here's what I would do...

I'd go to a BB store at a non-hectic time and chat with a sales person. I'd ask them to look up their inventory and tell me if any store in 50 miles had one in stock. I wouldn't talk price or open box or anything like that. Just, is there one available? I'd take a list of all availabilities and I would drive to each one immediately until I got one. (I have done this for other items in the past). What I wouldn't do is to drive around on the off-chance of finding a BB with it in stock, NOR would I phone BB. BB sales people have no time for phone-ins.

If I didn't find one, what I would do next is to.... wait. I've seen it a hundred times. If BB have dropped the price on something to clear ir from their inventory, then others will follow soon, if they haven't done so already. Why jump in and buy something just as the price is starting to fall? Let it fall!

An old bull and a young bull were at the top of a hill overlooking a herd of cows. The young bull says "hey, let's run down and shag one". The old bull looked at him thru a squinted eye and said "Son, let's walk down and shag them all".

1. This card is not "High - End"
2. It is already at the end of it's life cycle, you wait much longer and sure it will be cheaper, but whats the point?
3. A high end video card is a waste if you don't use it for what it's used for, pretty much like anything else. So whats your point?

Do you just enjoy thread crapping or what?

I agree.. this was an upper middle end card about 8 months ago. I have been tracking the price of this card. It was 150-160 8 months ago (around christmas).. now it's only middle end at best. I expected them to be 100 off the shelf at this point. Not bad when the 9700pro were mid 300s but not when they're mid 200s.

Good deal if you're in the market for this particular card. Not a great deal if you can afford to spring for a better card. HalfLife 2 and Doom 3 will make my decision in the end though.

I hate to rain on all of your's parades but the link that was given to this buy, is for a NON Pro version.

Hope nobody ordered expecting a PRO version. Sthe $157 is the same price I sell the non pro's for also. Pro's go for a little over $200.

I can't believe through all of the dickering on this thread that nobody figured this out.

This is not a hot deal.

IT WAS A DEAL. They changed it. Do you honestly think that, like you said, nobody would've figured this out? Now, you look like the IDIOT.

what are 128mb 8500s going for? how many are available? from reputable (ie, at members don't complain about them *sarcasm*) retailers?
ati is steadily dwindling those cards that offer similar/better results of their newer cards, who disputes this?
furthermore, who decides if a deal is hot/not hot? the person who posts it, the people who compliment/complain for/against it, or the person who buys it and is/isn't satisfied? wagering it's the last, and unfortunately, sometimes they are the least vocal...
login to clarify : i think the deal is/was hot

Who are you calling an idiot? This whole thread has been counter productive through it's entirety. I am surprised the Mods left it up here.

Yes it would have been a steal at $157 for a Pro version, I am sure JDR caught that error.

I took a chance on this deal and as expected it was too good to be true. I placed an order last night, and sure enough today I received a call from a nice lady at JDR telling me it was all a mistake. They did not have any 9500 Pro's in stock, and the deal through pricegrabber was an error. She asked if I wanted a Saphire 9500 np and I said no thank you, please cancel my order. She said no problem. But knowing me, I'll get charged anyway and have to fight that battle. As always, buyer beware......

Yep, they changed it. It previously pictured a "Built by ATI" Radeon 9500 PRO retail box. Now it shows a Saphire non pro 9500.
