I could just rub this into those anti Obama folks noses. But...
Seriously, there are A LOT of Americans and American families
that have been soooo waiting for this day.

And consider the concept. Please.
Healthcare not necessarily employer based.
Imagine, everyone with the freedom and availability to, simply,
go online and obtain healthcare for you and or your family.

Shop online for the best policy AND price, just like you do for computer hardware.

Sure, maybe ACA (i.e. Obamacare) will have bumps in the road as the ACA law proceeds.
But in all reality, does not this concept of having healthcare non employment based look truly appealing?
You no longer would have to stay in a job you dislike, simply for the employer healthcare.
Especially if one of your family member had an ongoing costly medically condition.

Is this ACA concept not the correct way for a free society to follow? Concept.
And the challenge should be NOT to fight against this new concept, but work to advance the concept making it ever better.

This is Anandtech. The forum all about talking the best hardware/software.
Shopping for the best hardware/software. Where. When. How. Price. Functionality.
From mobile phones to Microsoft to computers, we love the concept of shopping and discussing, and learning. The ease of it.

Healthcare could work just the same way.
ACA is just the beginning of such a concept.
Don't let the concept of something new scare you away.
Just consider the freedoms of such a concept.

(there. thats my little speech )

Yes, our medical insurance went from $800 a month to $1,200 a month even after we downgraded from "Choice" to "Select". So we get to pay more, for lower coverage and with fewer options. Obamacare rocks.

I really hope they just leave the Federal government shutdown until that abomination is repealed. I've contacted my legislators and begged them to do just that.

I have the higher option with my policy....and my premium is only going up $1.91 for 2014. Maybe it's time for you to shop around for a better option?.....

We own a small business and have to go with private, our coverage is going to be cheaper but we weren't hurting before at all. I'm looking forward to a lengthy government shutdown. It'd be nice to go a few years and save up some decent money I think Yosemite will still be there (probably better off too.)

No one can pass. No one should pass.
Superman, the man of steal, is just a comic book character, not a human.
If you have employer based healthcare, great!
If not, you now have a chance.

And yes, the costs might be one of the bumps in the road initially.
A bump only because EVERYONE needs to precipitate in some way, either by taking employer based when offered, or using the ACA marketplace.
As people join, and they will, costs will reflect much lower.
That is the entire concept of ACA, don't you know.
Everyone takes part, costs lower for affordability, and everyone has healthcare.
Just like car insurance.

Think outside the bubble. Like that guy that invented the light bulb over the burning candle. That guy wanted to illuminate entire cities.

The idea of ACA is for everyone, in some way, to have healthcare. No dead beats.
Not any more.

Remember how pissed you were when that kid ran into your car and they had no car insurance to pay?
Who paid? You did.
Your insurance company paid via higher rates for YOU (thank you dead beat kid), and or dropping your policy altogether soon afterwards.

20 year olds get sick too. Really. Believe it. Really.
And guess who pays the bill if they declined or had no opportunity for healthcare insurance?
Do I really need to tell you who gets stuck with that bill?

Everyone must take part in healthcare. period.
And with that, costs WILL drop for more affordability than you probably get from your employer based insurance.
You employer has, what, maybe 200, 300, 5000 employees with healthcare?
And you premium costs still run ramped despite, year after year.

Imagine a system where millions take part? MILLIONS!
Do the math.
ACA "is" illumining the entire city.

Amen. Lock all that shit down.
Our government is nothing but one big political theatre of the absurd. The stupid government basically 'shuts down' for two days every week just like everything else, and somehow everyone doesn't die, the sun still rises, life actually goes on.

But it's almost comical how they try to make anybody but the big government kissups give a flying F about shutting that money grubbing bunch of dipshits down for longer than they shut down anyway.

Govt (and their suckups): Oh noes! A bunch of bureaucrats shuffling papers to the tune of trillions will be furloughed!

Sane people: Good riddance.

Govt: Yeah? Well.. well... we'll stop delivering the mail!

Sane people: Hardly use it, and if I need to, UPS, FedEX, DHL, or just good ol' email.

Govt: Well... well... we'll stop paying the military!!! That'll show you!

Sane people: Why don't you assholes stop paying your own damned overpaid selves, and stop looking for desperate ways to prove you're actually relevant to anyone but your kiss-ups?

Govt: We're going to shut down the national parks! Surely you care about that!!! HA!

Sane people: Oh noes! Trees, rocks and mountains won't have human beings to look after them for a few days! How will nature ever survive on its own??!!!

Bunch of total dumbasses.

And as for that ACA: Great, all the young healthy people just got the biggest shaft they'll ever get in their lives- you now get to pay for sick and old people- or just pay fines- and by the time you're old, the whole damned thing will have collapsed because it's run by the same retards that are tripping over themselves threatening to shut down a forest for a few days.

Your sense of optimism is only surpassed by your aroma. It curiously smells like sour grapes.

Fuck yea! Even bigger government governing shit they were never meant to govern. Awesome! It's all for your own good though....drink the Kool Aid, drink it down or face a fine, I mean a tax, no, I mean a fine! Don't worry though, it's magically funded and the money comes from magical government subsidized money farms.

It's take from the rich and give to the poor time.....just awesome.

Healthcare not necessarily employer based.

It wouldn't be if not for the government in the first place.

Creating a massively expensive government program to "fix" a government caused problem is literally retarded.

Don't worry about it guys. When this shit bomb really shows it's ugly ass, it's gonna prove that people like Ted Cruz were really trying to do the right thing. Since ACA was passed in the night without a single Republican vote, when it all starts ripping off mainstreet America, the Dems can kiss 2014 & 2016 goodbye. The upside to this is that a GOP controlled house and senate will fix the economy, kind of like the last time we had a surplus, under Clinton. The GOP had control of the senate and the house. The mistake the GOP made was trying to delay it a year. Bring it on now, so we can watch it's epic demise before the mid terms. It will create great campaign talking points.

Like it or not, the abomination known as obamacare is now in effect. I hope it can get repealed or otherwise crippled such that it can get dismantled, but unfortunately it looks like it's going to be a very difficult mistake to correct.
