Hmm I never thought about the dirver support under 64, that's kind of a downer.

Are you going to put active cooling on the chipset? (Is it needed?)
What kind of cooler you running on the cpu? I'm guessing with the case closed? Ambient temperature?

No firewire bracket, but the headers are on the MB.
Ambient temp is about 74 degrees, chipset is running around 96 and cpu 107 w/ stock hsf, case closed.
Driver support in winxp64 is starting to get a lot better. It's still in beta though so you have to take that into effect - however the 64 bit version of xp is definatly faster.

well, I got my new yesterday. I have a A64 3400+ and 1 gig of mushkin special 222. The board passed 20 runs of memtest @ 2-2-2-5 no problems @ all. Now I just have to wait for my 6800 Ultra before I install a OS and do some real deal tests.

ps... remember to install the D-bracket. I over looked that and my board would no boot up @ first, LOL. that took me about 15 mins of panic till I figured that out. Also I installed the retail heat sink the opposite way shown in the manual my clip is on the other side. I think it was easier install on that side.

P.S Nice legs

I like the shot with your foot in the case. Nice touch. Going for that artistic touch?

Is the memory running 1:1 at 200 FSB? Could you do a quick Sandra memory run, just as a baseline?

D bracket? What is the D-bracket?

Mine is working fine but I still need to install Windows on it. Boot up and post is perfect though and it recognizes the SATA drives in the bios and on boot up. That is something the Asus K8V Deluxe wouldn't do. I think MSI really got it right with the bios on this board. Much better than Asus.

I didn't install that on mine. I hooked up 2 of the 4 front mounted USB ports in my case but I did not use the D bracket. Mine boots up fine.

Does the HDD LED work if you only have SATA hard disks install on this motherboard? I may just have it backwards. I'll have to check because the HDD LED isn't working.

Hmmm... my board hung w/o the d-bracket...odd... I will play again with that tonight

I will also check my raptor tonight for the HDD light. All I had installed last night was my mobo, memory, chip, and cd/dvd-burner combo drive (for mem test).

Don't you love being the Guinea pig

I won't be getting mine until I can get the K8N Neo Platinum and the X800XT (or 6800) at the same time.

Yeah you must have it backwards, my HD LED works fine. I'm out of town right now, this is killing me - using the hotel computer and it sucks compared to my baby

I'm really liking this board so far. Haven't messed around with the HDD LED because I've been too busy updating drivers and loading Windows tonight.

The Giga-LAN is really speedy. Playing around with the firewall also. Nice.

Nothing like a clean install of Windows on a speedy computer that works. What a concept.

I set my Raptors up as two individual SATA drives and put the Windows swap file on the second drive. I didn't set them up as a RAID so I didn't use the floppy install disk that came with the motherboard. Windows installed without a hitch.

Edit-I like the Core Cell utility also. It throttles back the fan (and I assume the cpu) to keep things cool and quiet like now when I'm just typing on the internet. Really slick. This thing is almost as quiet as my Dell at work. Nice.

update...

my pc posts fine w/o the d-bracket.

I am running 2-2-2-5 @ 200MHZ 1:1 using Mushkin 222 Special.

still have not checked the HDD light... will do that later tonight when I install an OS. I borrowed an old Geforce 2 from a friend to use until I get a 6800 Ultra or x800.
