funny how they brag their GDP is 2nd in the world, cuz that GDP per capita is only $6193 (97th in the world)

Don't worry, the US is still Numero Uno in national debt:

$7,881,935,851,082.99

In relation to GDP, it's not even #1.

Actually... that isn't far from the truth...

I blame Cartoon Network and their push of Anime.

It seems from talking to many of them, even friends, that they don't care if the USA goes under, because they're just here for the money anyway. If it wasn't for the money they wouldn't have left China. So to them, having China take over as #1 superpower isn't a bad thing because they'll just move back there.

That's odd I see alot of them wearing red, white and blue especially around Independence Day...

It's easy to wave a flag around when everything is going good, but will they stick around if we had a depression? Would they pick up a rifle if there was a war with China and fight on our side? Or would they decide that they're closer to China anyway, so they might as well go with the frontrunner?

I have a friend who is Indian and has lived here for 26 years. But he's not a US citizen. I asked him why he won't switch his citizenship and he told me that the US isn't doing too well, and he might have to move back someday. I asked him if he feels any loyalty to the country that provided him with a good life, and he said, "hell no. Once the sh!t hits the fan I'm gone"

that would be "Taiwanese".
Hey, do they actually speak all Taiwanese in Taiwan or do they use mandarin? I've always been confused about that because all the Taiwanese people I know speak mandarin but know Taiwanese as well?

Everyone in Taiwan speaks Mandarin, and some speak Taiwanese. I suck at all Chinese dialects, but I can speak Mandarin fairly well and Taiwanese is completely incomprehensible to me.

Would you go to war with Europe?

Hell, 99% of Americans today are emigrants or decendents of them. It's called looking out for yourself, not that many people wouldn't...

Of course I would. Back in the 40's, most of the USA was people of European descent, and we still did not hesitate to go back to Europe to fight Germany and Italy. Both of my grandfathers fought in WW2, and one of them has a purple heart from it. And we're mostly German.

That's Japanese, buddy.

Again, I blame Cartoon Network for my lack of educated reality.

China's government is retarded. Way to count your chickens aloud to the rest of the world before they hatch.

My family was in Taiwan before the Chinese invaded. My gradnparents don't speak Mandarin at all. They speak Japanese and Taiwanese. Taiwanese is spoken at home, and most of my cousins have pretty strong Taiwanese accents.

Taiwanese and Mandarin are not the same. Mandarin has four tones. Taiwanese has like nine.

In American it's called "pride". It's called "nationalism" in China, right?

I met a lady a few months ago in Taiwan who said she was going to China to be a part of some group that would be training teachers to send over to America because Americans are now learning Mandarin in elementary and high school.

I pointed out that American education systems at that level are usually governed on a county or city or maybe state-wide level and not on a national level. I'm not sure they'd allow a foreign system to feed into their education system. She's pretty convinced that China has this type of influence, though. I let it go.
