I don't know man. The story sounds closer to rape than it does to casual lying. Saying stuff like "your family will die if you don't..." should be a fairly serious crime.

This should totally count as a threat. How is "some guy will kill you" different from "I will kill you" if the result of both is a person fearing for their life? This isn't shooting the messenger; it's shooting a guy making up fake messages.

There's no contradiction at all.

Nowhere in the quote you posted does it say, or even imply, that the danger was exclusively to the assailant. If a person says, "my life is in danger," this does not imply that no-one else's life is in danger.

I don't know why drugging gets such a bad rap. I know someone who has been raped the old fashioned way and she said she still gets flashbacks from it even though that happened years ago. She wouldn't have those flashbacks if she were asleep the whole time.
