We traded the IS250 today for a 2014 ES350.

Oh well, I still have the Ducati right?

Had the windows tinted yesterday. I think it looks great.

Nice car. Better tint the windows and wear a disguise. Kidding!

Comfortable, reliable cruiser. Whats not to like? Congrats!

Everyone loves their car, or ought to...

I know most people think the Camry, especially the 05/06 is boring and without style, but I think, to the contrary, that that model is more nuanced...and my favorite...Only the ES350 is more appealing to my eye...having much the same styling cues.

Those body styling cues, sculptured panels, shapes/angles/lines (i.e. of lights and grill), are far less obvious in their design, being supplementary rather than parallel or identical, side to side, front to back, or top-down.

..over the years the ES350 has taken that same approach and sculptured the lines and angles to a more sophisticated/luxurious degree...making it, more than the Avalon the nicer upscale upgrade to the Camry...

NICE pick...jealous, even if it doesn't have a stick! Congrats.

Pics.

We love it. Very roomy, very comfortable, plenty of power. Can't wait for the next road trip.

It is my wife's car though. I just hope she doesn't ding it up too quickly.

So what was going wrong with the IS?

It needed a new transmission.

We were planning on keeping the IS for another year or two but they wanted $5k for a new transmission plus the front struts were going to need to be replaced soon and the car was just getting old and worn out.

My wife is a Realtor and she really needs to have a decent sized car and the IS was just too small.

Ugh. How hard is it to make a reliable automatic. I hope I don't regret the CVT....(for reasons other than preference)

Your fine, it's sleek, has power, and it's not a mini-van. Actually I was thinking of getting a mini-van, it has to be the most versatile vehicle ever built.

It is actually based on the Avalon with the most recent update I believe.

That's what Wikipedia says.

The ES series drive nice and are built solid. A but boring compared to BMW but definitely more luxurious. My mom's been driving a third gen for years. Too bad it's got the "oyster" trim package. I make fun of her for having an old lady's car. Those were the old Camry based ones though.

I never really got the ES hate. Its a solid entry-to-mid level lux car that will probably be more reliable and economical than anything else in its price bracket.

I won't ever get one because it seems like if you are Indian you have to own an ES at some point in your life.

Don't play into the ethnicity/automobile stereotypes! Its like all the Hmong in the Central Valley must drive Toyotas and only Toyotas (save for the young guys who drive riced out Civics). Or the white bros who must drive lifted "coal burning" Dodge diesel pickups. Or middle aged Lesbians driving Subaru Foresters. More I think about it the more the ethnic/racial/political preferences in cars come to mind.

Definitely more toward the luxury end of the sport/luxury sedan. My folks have had a couple. Wouldn't be my first choice, but if you're not a sporty driver they are great cars.
