Definitely more toward the luxury end of the sport/luxury sedan. My folks have had a couple. Wouldn't be my first choice, but if you're not a sporty driver they are great cars.

I actually prefer it to the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 my Mother-In-Law has. I've driven her car quite a bit and I think the Lexus has a better ride plus it is quieter in the cabin and is equally well equipped. Should be cheaper to maintain too.

I actually like this gen's ES. It's a slightly less edgier looking GS, just wrong wheel drive. The interior has nearly the same looks and build quality.
First ES I have liked since the mid-late nineties.

Congrats!

That is one sexy interior. The grill actually works unlike the new IS which just looks off. I think the car in this size class that Toyo/Lexus got right is the new Avalon. For some reason that car just looks sexy to me from all angles.

You need to start a new topic about the IS transmission. I was not aware that Toyota had forgotten how to make transmission last for the life of the vehicle. I thought that was Honda specialty :-(

People can make fun all they want, but I actually like the ES (and the LS), in terms of looks, far more than the IS. But, I am a fan of sedans. Maybe, I am just an old soul?

Huh? I don't think anyone here dislikes sedans per se. We're just poking fun at Jules.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of information about it. There were a bunch of warning lights on the dash and the car was driving badly for a couple weeks before my wife finally took it in so she probably did more damage. I almost never drove her car so I can't really give you much more than that.

I do know that we've had this problem with the car before where the warning lights VSC come on and the car goes into a limp mode. If you turn the engine off and restart it runs fine but I'm not sure this was the same problem. I thought that's what she was talking about but apparently the lights had been on for quite a while and she was just ignoring it.

I never really liked the IS250. It is gutless and cramped inside. I'd rather drive my Camry Hybrid than her car. At least mine has satellite radio.

I'm 29 and just placed an order for a vette if that makes you feel any better. I'm told that I now qualify for AARP.

Are Lexus' still boring to drive like Toyotas? I know they're comfortable and reliable.

Great color and that interior is definitely top notch.

I agree with the color, but the interior doesn't look that luxury to me. I like dash stitching on leather (doesn't look soft - but it obviously has to be leather, and the stitching should be more subtle) but the plastics look hard and bland like Ford. They should at least try to make the entire dash look like soft faux leather instead of this strict contrast. I looked up the GS interior to see if it's any better and it's disappointing for $50k.

It is much nicer than any Ford interior.

And you have not taught your family the simple rule of

"red light on the dash, pull over as soon as possible but do it safely and call me"
"yellow light on the dash, call me when you come home"

My wife is a grown woman, not a child. She knows to take it in when lights are on. For some reason she didn't this time.

20 percent baller ^^

I like to do a 50 percent tint on the windshield too. Its mostly legal and cuts down on the wear of the interior as well as your skin

Some newer cars have a light tint on the windshield from the factory so cops usually cant tell you have a light tint up front though most laws say 35 percent or lower on the windscreen is verboten.

Windshield tint is illegal in CA except for a 4" strip at the top.

In my twenty years of driving here, I never knew anyone that got a ticket for tinting. I heard of guys with limo dark windows ticketed, but nothing shy of that.

-derp-you said "windshield".
derp derp.

50 percent is so light you can barely tell its there. All it does it take the sting out of direct sunlight and allow me to drive without sunglasses all the time. Combine the 50 percent and 20 percent side and your also allowing in very little uv and direct sunglight so your interior stays cooler and your AC doesnt work as hard.

MB with that really light blue tinge to their glass reflects almost as much.

I would never tint a windshield. We went 35% on the front doors and 15% in the back. Actually, tint on the driver's and passenger door is also illegal but you can go as dark as you want in the back.

I know you wouldn't. I wouldn't even if I lived in a state where it is legal to. Just seems stupid IMHO.
