Definitely looking forward to being rid of glasses and contacts.

I've got a box of Refresh Plus artificial tears with 70 individual vials, per the OD's advice.
And I stopped by the Walgreen's Pharmacy and picked up the antibiotic eye drops as well, that ran about 70 dollars.

The surgery itself is going to run about 1650, 150 of which I already paid as a deposit and for the initial consultation/exam.

My vision is pretty bad, though I don't have the exact figures on hand. I've also got some astigmatism, which makes wearing contacts uncomfortable.

Best money I ever spent.

Although my doc gave me all the artifical tears I used. Guess different docs do things differently.

The appointment for the surgery has been finalized, the financing is finalized, and I've got transportation arranged for the operation day and post op follow-up.

So exciting.

Once my eyes heal, I'll have to celebrate with booze and a visit to an adult club . . .

Is that why my contacts feel so fricken funny to wear, cause of the astigmatism?

Nice! I've been thinking about LASIK myself and my eye doctor just told me that my vision is settled and I would probably be an ok candidate. So you are financing your surgery? May I ask what your payments are going to be?

Congrats! Although I had wanted eye surgery ever since RK came out, I never could afford it... and when I finally could afford it, I actually had second thoughts because of the potential side effects and possible permanent vision loss...

...for all of ten seconds, then I came to my senses and had both eyes done at once. Best money I ever spent. Absolutely no side effects like night haloes, so I'm one of the fortunate ones.

How do you know when your vision has "settled". As in, how many years does it have to stay the same?

When I first started researching this a while back, I read that your prescription had to not change in 2 years. But when I went to see my eye doctor yesterday, he said that with how good the technology and everything is now it's safe for most people in their 20's or older with stable vision for 1 year.

i've never regretted getting LASIK. The only problem i have is with the constant dry eyes. some mornings it feels like i have sand in my eyes, its that bad. But my vision after a few years is still 20/15.

Good Luck!

And you will find out for sure by the time you go in for the consultation and tests and everything. I think I'm going to wait another year or so since I just bought new glasses and I want to make sure I can afford it. I would go for the custom wavefront and everything, so I know it won't be cheap. I am seriously considering it though.

Surgery day.

After rebuilding my main desktop last night, which had accumulated a sh!t ton of dust inside it, I had to go buy a vacuum. While there, I picked up some replacement filters for my HEPA unit thats been sitting in the closet for the last 5 months. I did a really good vacuum and wiped down a lot of the most dusty surfaces. Hopefully, this will decrease any itchy eyes, particularly in the morning.

I've got any entire packet of paperwork that they want me to bring in with me, including consent and waiver forms.

One of the previous optometrists I spoke with told me that vitamin C can help with the recovery process, so for the last couple of days, my vitamin C intake has been substantially increased.

i want to have it done. but i am terrified of it. i can have anything done to any other part of my body and it won't bother me. but my head? nope. i can't even have dental work done without having a panic attack or such.

I want to get one done too as soon as my vision settles. Best of luck with you, and do keep us updated on conditions after the surgery.
