Asheron's Call Looting Rules...

First, how much you drop depends on your level:

* When you are level 5 or under, you don't drop anything when you die.
* From level 6 to level 10, you lose half your coins (not trade notes) and nothing else.
* From level 11 to level 20, you lose half your coins and possibly one non-wielded item (that is, something that you were neither wearing nor holding in your hands).
* From level 21 to level 35, you lose half your coins and some number of non-wielded items.
* After level 35, you lose half your coins and some number of items. At this point, you can drop items that you were wearing or holding.

Now, in those last two cases, I said 'some number'. Some number here is equal to your level divided by 10, rounded down, plus a random number between 0 and 2. So from level 21 to 29 you can lose between two and four items; from 30 to 39 you can lose three to five items; from 40 to 49 you can lose four to six items, and so forth. By level 126 you can be losing up to 14 items!

(One caveat here: if you were killed in a PK battle, you always lose items as if you were over level 35, although the exact number you lose is still determined by your real level / 10. In other words, PK deaths do not get the special protection from item loss that NPK deaths get under level 35.)

I liked this system, it wasn't as gear Dependant as many games, however if you died and lost a good item it would effect you...loosing a couple items meant that you would be a bit more careful.

Nice!! PQs sound awesome, what's involved? Killing giants and that kinda thing? PQs are all PvE is that correct?

Hmm, so is all loot you find set this way? That will severly limit player trading...how's everyone's experience with that? Player interactions...?

PQ comes with various story lines. and in 2-3 stages. mostly killing different mobs or destroying things (cannons, powder kegs..etc), the final stage usually involves killing a champion(elite) mob. some PQs are in contested areas. where RvR may happen if you're flagged. also, the which side that completes the first stage of the PQ can continue with the rest of the PQ, while the other side have to wait it out or try to make it harder by pvp the players of the opposing side(the final stage of PQ have a time limit)

only the loot reward at the end of the PQ is set to the class of whoever wins that particular bag (you get to pick one from the choices of a gear of your class, some crafting loots, or coins. )

class of loot bag goes like this:
minor loot bag - white gear, crafting items, coins
lesser loot bag - as above + 1 green
major(?) loot bag - as above + 1 blue
massive loot bag - as above + 1 purple

loot drop from mobs are random. the final boss from PQ have their own loot drop table too, but it is not guranteed to drop anything. i hope they change that in live.

downtime- there wasn't any, or quite rare...may be due to beta.

Question about camera rotation: Are you able to move the camera independently of the character view? Lemme see if I can explain better.

I used to play WoW a lot. One thing I liked and got used to was that there were a few ways to have the camera setup. What I did was my Right Mouse button allowed me to turn where my character was facing. My left mouse button allowed me to rotate the camera without causing my character to face a different direction.

So essentially, for example, I could view what was behind my character while my character was running forward.

Is that possible in War?

If the beta is any indication then Destruction is going to be more populated (kinda figures that anyway).

Do unbalanced populations really screw with the RvR? I'm wondering if playing the underdog is going to mean getting completely dominated a lot of the time.

Well, in DAoC, unbalanced pops really did screw up RvR. But, it was more fun, and a lot more action being the underdog. Also better RPs

do people start to RP after they get tired of being beaten =P

joking aside I do like a even fight. I miss the horde hunting days on mannoroth...

They have already stated that this is not a open beta where they are opening the flood gates and letting in whoever wants to play.
You can try by preordering and entering the code.
But I don't know if that would work they already have probably too many testers.

They've already released all open beta invites - the first 50 or 20 thousand regular editions got in, everything after this point just gets the headstart weekend.

So is loot BoE or BoP, or both??

How many abilities do the classes have? How much character customization is there...meaning how often am I going to see characters built just like mine, theoretically?

1.) There is BoE loot in the game for sure. I am not sure on the BoP loot though because I never ran into any BoP loot.

2.) Each class has many abilities and no one ability is the same. You also won't be getting any skills that are like Fireball 1, Fireball 2, etc. Your skills are unique for each level that you get one. WARDB is the place to go right now to check out class skills, career talent trees, morale abilities and much more etc..

http://www.wardb.com

3.) As for customization well it's about the same as WoW when it comes to physical appearance and faces. The way gear and weapons look is specifically tied to your class. In WAR you are playing the part of a front line grunt. Admittedly you are the upper echelon but you still are a grunt in what amounts to an army so yeah gear is the same for everyone else in your class. The area where you can individualize your gear will be in armor dyes and the varied amounts of battlefield trophies you can slap onto your armor via trophy slots.

Cool i'll check that site out at home later!
#1 and #2, good to know

#3: A grunt? i love it. About time an mmo realized the millions of ppl playing can't all be "heroes" saving the day...nice.
Are trophies represented graphically? Cool idea anyway but if they appear on character, wow.

Yes they are represented graphically. So you can have skulls mounted on top of your spiky shoulder pads as a Chaos Chosen or have seals of purity with oaths inscribed on them hanging off your armor as a Warrior Priest of Sigmar.

my brother who just got the preorder standard edition today, got into preview weekend and open beta.... so it looks like they still have room.

also, if you're in preview weekend, you should be able to create a game account now and use it to download the client and patch before the preview weekend starts.

the starting time is sometimes tomorrow morning.

After wasting money on AoC.... im going to wait for reviews before I buy this game. Tired of wasting money on MMO's that fail. They have hype, then die.

i wasted money on aoc too... but this time, i figure if i spent $10 on a pre-order to get a couple weeks of beta, it's worth it to figure out if i want to pay for the game. and so far, this is a good substitute for wrath of lich king. which will always be there when i'm ready to return to my lvl 70 mage and warlock.

I may have to dust off the mage when WotLK comes out

Pretty sure all the preview weekend invites are out. If you pre-order you'll get a week of open beta before the servers go live. (open beta sept 7-14, live head start 15-17, servers offiically live 18th, I believe)
